Computer Question //// So, i just built my first PC, So, Im a bit of a f*cking retard when it comes to hooking up monitors and shit, (I am use to gaming craptops so this is a new thing for me).

And, On my PC i got a 980Ti (The outputs are whats in the picture). And, basically, I saw a 1080p monitor i really liked and a good price too at a store near me, So i bought 1 of them and hooked it in, (What im using now) and want to buy 2 more of them, Problem is though their only imput is HDMI (Which is fucking weird considering they dont have speakers?), Anyway, If i have 1 HDMI slot in my Card, And i need to hook it up to 3 monitors, How do i do that?

Is there like a 1>3 splitter cable i buy or something? Will my card handle 3 monitors going out of 1 output?

I have never done this before, Cheers.
>>
Buy wireless adapter
>>
Use a DP (DisplayPort) to HDMI cable. If that is unavailable buy a DP > HDMI adapter.

So, I just get my 3 monitors, And, then buy 3 DP / HDMI cables and hook them up using all 3 of my DP slots?
>>
>>684121870
One of those can stay on HDMI. Just try to avoid adapters if you can, they are possible points of failure and will sometimes just not work for your particular setup.
>>
>>684121870
Four if you wanna add one to hdmi

Will something like this work as well as x3 DP > HDMI leads ?

I am just worried about putting 3 Monitors from a single HDMI ouput, Will my card be able to handle that?

like i said, Im a complete fucking PC amateur, So.. I was just worried a single output could not handle that much 'stuff' ya know?
>>
>>684122090
No. This is meant to connect 3 devices to one monitor and enables you to switch through them.
>>
>>684122090
That's a display port to hdmit, it's the opposite of what you want. Unless your monitor has displayport
>>
>>684122090
hahaha n00b
>>
>>684122294
>>684122329
>>684122391

Like i said, Im a fucking complete dipshit with this stuff, Haha.

So, Basically what i need to do?

- Keep the Monitor thats currently plugged into HDMI left there.
With the 2 additional monitors, Purchase HDMI/DP wires and plug them into the HDMI slots on the Monitors and into 2 DP slots on my card

Right?
>>
>>684121188

>980 Ti

You fucked up nigga
>>
>>684122763
Yes. And If you can't get HDMI/DP cables, get HDMI cables and get HDMI/DP adapters
>>
Dvi to hdmi cable.

Get a 2-pack
>>
Those 2 large connectors are DVI
You can buy 2 DVI to HDMI Adapters and connect your 2 new monitors to those.
Not sure of Display Port, but with DVI I'm 100% certain it will work (because the adapters are passive, they just connect the DVI pins to the HDMI pins)

Wtf man
>>
>>684122940

How come? Is it not the equal of the Titan?..
>>
>>684123158
No it's good, a little overkill for most things, but still good.
>>
>>684123142
>>980ti
>>Not getting a 4k monitor
>Wtf man

Eh.. I feel like 4k isnt quite there. I mean, If i had 980Ti SLI (And, In the future once the prices go down thats what ill do) but... I feel like a single 980ti aint quite there yet.

So, In the meantime ill just rock a x3 1080 setup, Im happy with that anyway.

>>684123106
>>684123107

Wait. Im confused now, Haha, Whats better DP>HDMI or DVI>HDMI?
>>
>>684123142
>getting 4k monitor ever
1440p 144hz is where it's at for gaymen friendo. No one gives a fuck about 4k @ peasant 60hz.
>>
>>684123475
You trollin?
>>
>>684123475
The adapter will not affect anything for 1080p 60hz anon, whichever you can get is fine.
>>
>>684123475
DVI is an old standard. DP is what will be the standard for computer display connections in the future, and HDMI / DP are quite similar- DVI, as example, is not meant to carry audio signals, whilst DP does, and DVI is quite limited resolution wise. In the end, it doesn't really matter for 1080p, though.
>>
>>684123339

To be honest, I dont feel as though it is overkill.

I mean, If i take the build i just did, i76700k - 16GBDDR4 - 980Ti. When i ultra Arma 3 i can still only get like 50-70 FPS when fighting on a single 22inch 1080p. And, Whilst thats good, Its not 4k good,

Hell, If i ramp everything up on Arma 3, View distances, EVERYTHING, It plumits down to as little as 20-30fps..... on a single 22inch 1080p monitor...

I feel like many people think 980Ti is alot more meaty then it truly is.

The 980 Ti is a beefy card. Arma 3 is just shit anon it always will be. Overclock your CPU and RAM if you want more frames in Arma as it doesn't even -use- your GPU properly.

Pic related is my build, CPU is @ 4.6ghz. I get 100ish fps at 1440p on arma 3 with mostly maxed settings, some things toned down because theyre just FPS rape.

If you're gonna build a high end rig and play shitty unoptimized games, you might want to learn a bit more about what you're doing friendo.

One ti sucks in 4k, you need two for playable frame rates.

Pic related
>>
>>684123475
This, one sucks in 4k, 2 is so much better.

Some games like AC Syndicate with eveything maxed still dip into low 50s a bit
>>
>>684124106

Like i said mate, First ever PC, I am trying to learn but as im sure you can appreciate from someone who has obviously been there at one stage, Its quite a steep learning curve.

The only reason i went as high end as i did so i could play around a bit and try and max things.

And, Nice build.

Why wouldn't you just wait until the gtx1070 came out cheaper and better than totan
>>
>>684124410
Then some tips - Make sure your cores arn't parked, hopefully you didn't get a shit MB or PSU, as you can likely get your CPU to 4.6ghz or higher.

RAM speeds are also important for a skylake build, much more so than on previous gens, so if you skimped on RAM you might want to reconsider that.

There is also a guide to Arma 3 optimization for high end systems that will walk you thru the ideal settings for best visuals without shitting on your FPS.

It's literally the greatest thing ever
>>
>>684124700

On a related note to my build, my CS750M makes a very whiny noise sometimes, I mean, One minute it will be dead silent, Then, Suddenly out of nowhere it sounds like a fucking jet engine spooling up and gets louder and louder.

For the first few days i just dealt with it, And i found online simply.. ''firmly tapping'' it stopped it, And it did for about a week, but, Now it keeps coming back and i have to ''firmly tap'' my PSU every couple hours or so, Which..clearly aint ideal...

I assumed it was the fan just acting up or some shit, Any ideas bros?.

Haha

I used those cards in my new pc, the cables are managed much better now, too.

I haven't ran pc mark lately, on the scrub mode I got around 23,000, not sure what it's at now.
>>
>>684121188
dont be a noob and use the Display Ports instead
theres three of them there for a reason
>>
>>684124946
who buys graphics cards right when they come out?
waste of an extra 300 or so dollars if you just wait a year
>>
>>684124798

Mhmm, - i7-6700k / MSI B150 Gaming M3 / Gigabyte GTX980Ti G1 / 16GB DDR4 / CS750M (I uploaded a pic of it ^^).

Do you think im capable of doing that stuff with this?.
>>
>>684125199
I have similar system, my 6700k is @4.8ghz, and I have two of same card so yeah.
>>
>>684124946
>>684125192

I built this PC a little while ago now. At the begining of 2016, So, I have played hundreds of hours on it, So i feel as though i have gotten my money out of the 980ti already.

But, Since then i have changed some stuff in it, And, Only finally got my ass round to sorting out my peasent monitor situation.
>>
>>684124106

How many GB's does one person need? Fuck.
>>
On another note guys, Is the 1070 / 1080 seriously going to shit on the 980Ti that hard?

i mean, I realise its obvious theyre going to be better, But... They're not going to be so retardedly vastly superior in every regard right?. (I mean to the point where there is literally no point owning a 980ti anymore..)
