Thanks.

I'm going through a career change. I signed up for a coding boot camp and am hoping that I it will help me make a decent wage.

I've heard Java developers start out making anywhere from 40k - 65k a year. Is this true? I'd be a junior developer.

If you know your shit yeah. I'm about to graduate with a CS degree and will start a job at 66k

Ok awesome.

I'm just nervous. It's like, I'll be moving away to a whole new city and starting something entirely new.

Programers are high demand so that's probably cheap end, but yeah if you know your stuff you can absolutely get that

That's so reassuring.

I have 3 college degrees (BS Psych / BA Phil / AA Crim) and went almost nowhere with it. Fortunately I did it all in one go - so it was only the cost of one degree (I overloaded on credits and graduated high school early). Immaturity and lack of life experience on my part expected a living wage when I graduated! Now I work an entry level job (although I do tutoring on the side).

I need a stable job with benefits.

Have you programmed anything you can show in job interviews? If you don't have a degree you're going to need to prove that you can code. Programming job interviews are not easy

That's the point of the boot camp. They take you and show you how to code.

I've done some things and have a portfolio, but mostly I'm waiting to see what they have for me there.

They've got like a 98% job placement rate, and they work on making sure you have a strong portfolio.
