But unless you want to extend that logic and say nobody is responsible for anything they do or do not do in their lifetime then people need to be held accountable for their actions. The poor whites of the south were absolutely complicit in the ideology of slavery and segregation. They participated in lynch mobs and other means of terrorizing and controlling blacks. In the post-civil war period they would destroy the property of and otherwise maim any black person who got too wealthy and self-sufficient.

It doesn't matter if the first slaves were indentured labor. What you're referring to was the very earliest part of the colonial period. By the time the colonies were in full boom you can bet money there were no longer any black slaveholders and that the institution of slavery had become entirely racialized.
It doesn't matter if the institution of slavery existed in Africa before the slave trade. Until the slave trade got going in full, it was a very, very different institution, more akin to a social system than an economic one.
Slave traders incentivized Africans to enslave each other for profit where before a slave was merely someone without a blood lineage in a given society and therefore would be taken on as a "slave" to a given clan. Before the slave trade, slaves could be quite powerful. Chiefs seeking independence from their clans would use their slaves as retainers instead of family, giving the royal slaves more power than chief's family.
It doesn't matter how intensely the natives suffered, which was indeed quite intensely. Two wrongs do not make a right and ranking how hard a given group got screwed over doesn't make one's plight invalid. Does the fact that people live in shipping crates in slums abroad make poverty in the United States today any less inexcusable?
None of this matters when talking about chattel slavery in the Antebellum south and the system that came after it in the post-Civil War period. It doesn't change how horrific that institution was or the effects it has had lasting into the current day. This is all diversionary and special pleading. Its intellectually bankrupt and shows how insecure the person making these petty arguments is.

A system of exploitation depends on collaborators within the exploited class. the slavery we are talking about is not the worst slavery, not the first slavery nor was it the most widespread use of slavery, basically as far as slavery goes the western enslavement of the african people does not "win" in any of the ways slavery can be bad, sure it was horrible, but why are you all acting as if this specific slavery is unique and more horrible than other slavery?
I just don't get why white people always have to be more responsible than others, why should we have to adhere to a stricter moral codes than others?
