Smart old POS do both as useful, CNC for production and manual for repair machining or parts that don't fit their CNC. My shop ownerbro has a couple of American Pacemaker manual lathes from the WWII era making money every week right beside his CNC turning center which also makes phat bank. How the fuck do I know what country you're referring to? In mine the volunteers show up when they want and leave when it gets hard. If they show up for shifts where you're from and have a 15 min response time then that's different. Although, if you're in a town that can support this system then chances are you don't see much shit bc volunteers can cover the work. We have volunteers here that aren't trained to go into a burning house. They can stand outside and use a hose. That's considered acceptable in that remote community.

I volunteer as a firefighter locally, which, admittedly causes some scope of practice lines to be blurred. But for the most part yes, they do.
It's pretty annoying, to be honest, but the paramedics are ten times worse than a firefighter. The amount of trauma patients i've lost because the damn paramedic spent too long on scene trying to secure an advanced airway is embarrassing.
