Damn, I've had my Panerai Luminor GMT 44mm for 10 years now. It is tits.
not on my wrist cause I cant be asked to take and upload a pic
>implying that you Implied and all of that.
this is not the same watch as in your OP pic, but fairly close.
PrestigeTime rules for watches.
i've been using G-SHOCK models since 17 years.
i'm 25 btw
Was my grandad's watch when I was little, wanted it since I was about 5/6 years old.
Got given it a couple of weeks ago 20+ years later after I completely forgot about it.
Seiko SNZG15 with a leather zulu strap.
Me too. Always g-shock 5600. I buy a new one every few years. Not because it breaks, but because too much of my flesh has fused with the back. EMT, btw, almost everyone I work with uses 'em.
Well I think it looks very awesome, I love it especially when it has a past..
Like that one time it kept your grandfathers hand from slipping all the way down his boyfriends asshole.
>I have a smart phone fagget. It can also access the Internet, communicate to the world and use a variety of utility apps. What can your watch do?
>convince myself I'm superior, like a WW2 officer charger a machine gun position with a revolver
Watches aren't about telling time anymore. In today's world with everyone having a flawlessly accurate phone in their pocket.
They are now, 100% jewelry. The only acceptable form of male jewelry.
Cant beat my style. Got this from a Chinese vendor selling chickens on the side. Said it bill Gates owned it
Most recent addition to collection...love at first site
Not every fucker sits on their phone 24/7 though.
If I was to do a test to look at the time the fastest and easiest... looking at my wrist will always trump getting a phone out of whatever pocket and pressing a button.
Not on wrist cuz I'm abroad atm and watch is at home.
Gift from my dad 2 years ago for my 21st birthday.
Rolexes are for the first time luxury watch buyers. "hey I made some $ so time for a luxury watch all I know is Rolex"
After a while a Rolex owner will learn a few things and realize he's only driving a BMW.
not posting mine because of identifying marks rn
1989 Patek Phillipe 5053J Officer's Watch
I also have this nice black one
Jesus christ, its 2016 and this image size limit bullshit. Get with the program Nuevo-Moot-San
I would tend to agree except I have a boner for lume patina on the early GMTs.
Well I don't have one coz they're 6 figures but I'd like a nice simple Lange & Sohn. Family happens to be from the region.
Yes until the main spring wears out or the crown snaps off or the threads get fucked then he has got something irreparable and useless . I would like to just smash it with a rock and walk off if I ever saw someone wearing such a piece. Just for a laugh.
Im the anon with the gmt rolex:
For some yes, but real watch enthusiasts still know they're a good brand. Here's my grail
Why use a watch when you got a phone? That shit makes no sense
jesus dude, smoke some weed or watch some netflix and chill.
Everything breaks. that's what happens. the more expensive it is the more it breaks. Cars, houses, boats, you name it.
Mechanical watches all the way
it uses an eta based movement very similar to other manufacturers that charge thousands more for their pieces. for the price difference between an aquaracer and a submariner let's say, are you really gaining ~$7000 more worth of quality? No. However the aquaracer would definitely be a lot more accurate and probably keeps better time than all the other autos ITT.
Yeah let's all take advise from a man that bought all of his watches on finance and remortgaged his house so he could walk around with a $40K patek... then ebegged for money to fuck prostitutes with
My dad's watch he left me. Crystal is cracked can't find anyone to fix.
Haven't seen one of these in a while. Nice time piece OP!
Rolex is a completely independent brand always has been. Everything is done in-house. Tag is just a shit company owned by the Swatch group that charges $3K for a $500 watch. Look at their resale on the secondary market versus a rolex.
im gonna bump into him one day since i live in bangkok permanently if he talks shit about my TAG i will straight back hand the cunt bitch slap him like the fat bigot he is but i can bet he wont say shit till he gets back to australia behind his shitty webcam then start reeling off. i honestly pity this man's children
Grandfather's seamaster from when he was a green beret. Killed dozens of gooks wearing this thing, still has the original movement. I wouldn't buy a new Omega, after they became a flashy Rolex alternative, but this one looks minimal and has sentimental value, so I wear it daily.
I have a stührling automatic skeleton watch and love it so much. They're not that pricy either
I like your seamaster and i like the story behind it (the other linked post is mine). I don't have a story behind it right now but I'm wearing it to all my important events so I can pass it down later.
Thanks anon, I have a few but this is my personal favorite.
I am well aware that rolex manufacture their own movements in house, well aware of that. Why don't you compare the cost of a brand new submariner with that of a 2-year-old submariner? Would you be making a $0.00 loss buying a brand new sub and selling it? No shithead you'd be taking a much bigger hit than you ever would on a fucking Tag. Omega is also owned by swatch group, does that mean that all Omega watches are a complete piece of shit because of that fact?
ETA 2892.A2 is superior to rolex movement fact. and if you want to talk shit about ETA let's first look at all the other watch manufacturers using it which are much more expensive than Tag heur.
Can anybody tell me where to find this watch? It looks brilliant
I'm no watch expert but the one on the left is clearly legit. While at a glance they may be essentially identical, the one on the right is clearly made with cheaper materials and less precision. But I'm not a brand guy so I don't fucking care. I buy based on appearance, performance, and quality. Couldn't be fucking bothered by who made it.
I bought in on a airplane like 2 years ago. I also have an Tag heuer Mercedes benz special edition giving from my step dad because I graduated. I was pissed once and broke it tho :( I only need to replace the band but that cost 1000€ so nope
Why do both of you have shit tier watches
Says the faggot with a smart watch.
Any word on Orient? I'm really feeling the Mako or Sting Ray.
Fuck me they are both fake.
The really easy way to tell a fake roller is the inscription on the inside of the watch just above the face. If there isn't writing there, its fake.
Is actually a real Rolex...
If you pay retail for anything you're generally out money. ETA is not superior. Rolex has pioneered kif, parachrom, and paraflex not to mention it has a free sprung balance which have all proven to make a more reliable movement. Sure some brands may modify an ETA so it's within COSC but it's still going to cost you more. I have a little more respect for Omega than Tag but Rolex is still one of the best watches you can get.
Fitbit HR Charge.
He's actually just an overweight female that had a bigge arse a few year ago before she started exercising.
Ok I'm currently losing 5 seconds a day with my aquaracer, is a 90s submariner as accurate as that? What I was saying is there is no tangible advantage for paying $7000 more, apart from the bragging rights of a rolex; and a movement which is less accurate, yet supposedly superior.
You took that insult like a champ, respect, I was just busting balls. But on a more serious note, why do fucking idiots feel the need to buy shit like this for exercise? Like how fucking retarded do you have to be to think that you'd need anything like this to loose weight? Are you that weak minded that you need a gadget to remind you when to work out and how long to work out? How did humans ever stay in shape before exercise tech? Just can't help but cringe when I see people using Apps and buying hardware for weight loss. Anything to make themselves feel like they're actually progressing towards something by doing nothing.
How bad are Shinola watches? Frankly, they look pretty nice and I like the story behind them.
I just wanted to see how many steps I do in a day and what my daily heart-rate is like. Also wanted a digital watch. Extra bonus, rough "tracking" for how much sleep I get.
Some coworkers got them because their doctor wanted to track their daily health, others exactly like you described, but they cheat the step counter by wanking the air next to them when they aren't walking. Those that got them to track their fitness and exercise use it to compete with the others, as a form of motivation.
To be fair, I have a Fossil as my work watch because anything on my wrist takes a beating will working. Paid 29.99 for it 6 years ago, beaten the shit out of it, and it still works to perfection today. Water, salt water, smacking, doesn't matter the thing still works and doesn't show the wear it should. Just saying. I of course have the good shit for going out and more casual occasions.
Watch out posting those on /b/. These faggots seem to think skeleton watches are le edgy teen bait
I think they're sexy, plus they're usually cheaper. Good conversation pieces, easy to maintain, overall good buy.
if you like it just get it. you will never meet a fuckhead in real life like on /b/. and if you did meet someone ITT in real life they would just look at the floor and mumble incoherently
currently on my wrist (not my pic)
Fossil Blue I believe, not sure, been six years since I bought it and it's not labelled on the face.
It's not a matter of what I'm into, just grabbed it since it looked decent and I needed a beater watch. I own a couple Tag's and my grandfathers old Rolex. But I'd never wear those to work.
Yeh, thought there was something to be said about how well it's lasted for me, given it's shit tier status.
I've honestly been waiting for a watch thread for a couple of days now. I recently got something along the lines of a couple hundred bucks for some award for my graduating project that I did. I'm considering spending it on an everyday carry watch (office, to the park, etc.). I'd be willing to probably go up to $200 of my own money (beyond that and it would take away from the sentimental aspect of the award/watch), so it'd be around $400 max (but I'd rather keep it in the $300 range).
What would /b/ recommend?
I'm currently considering seiko le grand sport ssa243
or Tissot Men's T41.5.413.73 Le Locle Automatic
You need to choose the watch friend. Fuck recommendations. Find something that speaks to you, suits your style. Brand name should not a taken into consideration. Quality and construction are foremost, then you just need to find something you personally like.
>Quality and construction
That's what I came here for. I want something that (with maintenance) I can pass on to my future kids without having to break the bank.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'm still hesitant about buying used online though. I know how to match the number on the watch to the manufacture's code, but that's about it.
Would the Tissot be too dressy for every day carry (I'm in jeans/shorts and a polo most of the time when I'm not in a suit).
It's a little on the dressy side. But you could always try to dress it down with a brown calf strap or even a nato. Not sure how that would look though. I love natos for comfort.
Had mine for about 15 years. Looks like hell, but I love it.
Shinola is a complete shill. I don't care much about watches, but goddamn the bicycles piss me off but good.
Over say, this? I'd probably like the Tissot more but the Seiko is pretty neat too (and cheaper).
This contradiction was what I was worried about.
That's definitely the better choice for EDC. And yeh the contradiction is why I said you need to let the watch pick you. You can't please the world anon, just you. Opinions are the single most diverse thing in existence.
internet pic, but this is what I wear. had it for about 8 years.
>That's definitely the better choice for EDC
wait, the seiko or the tissot?
I completely agree with you about letting the watch pick you. It's just nice to have an anon's opinion on things like this every once and a while (plus to be reassured that the watches that I'm looking at aren't complete crap). As long as it will last a generation or more (with proper upkeep) and will look fairly respectable, I'm OK with it. I don't care about brands or where it was made (even if these can be fairly solid indicators of craftsmanship), I care about quality than anything else.
I was saying the >>683036453 was better for EDC although I don't think the >>683034412 is overly dressy or anything. But yeh, you have the right mindset so I think you'll choose wisely.
This is what I've got for now, want to upgrade in the near future
BESIDES all the problems wearing a matte all black watch its pretty cool
oi m8 ill fok you up you little gob shite i give you a swallen gabba if you try ot insult me again you cheeky kunt u cant even lift a finger to punch me m8 1v1 me i bench press your nan nd 1 foot in dat door ill smash ye n shag your sis. i swear on me mom
Good to hear that. My fiance isn't a big fan of the Seiko, but I'm not wearing a suit EVERYDAY so having classier automatic watch doesn't make sense in my current situation (having a nicer mechanical watch-and wearing a suit everyday-will come with time).
Again, I appreciate the input.
Haha sure man, whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better about being a wannabe millennial.
No worries man, you know what you're doing, you'll make the right choice.
Top fucking kek, was this to celebrate daddies new oil field?
Yep. I had a watch go in for repair and came back with a fiber inside the face. Didn't sleep for two nights until I was able to have them correct it.
Meh, smart-watches do have their place. Not that I've ever found one that my phone/body couldn't do. I ride a motorcycle and I can see how they would distract me from purposefully getting lost in the first-place, but nothing that a phone tucked into the translucent part of the tankbag couldn't fix.
That wrist band looks like utter shit.
