The government would control basic things such as the courts, education, military, etc. Basic stuff. Religion would NOT be banned, but rather there would be a COMPLETE separation of religion and state. The fellow proletariat would be happy and work as hard as he could to support his community, while be taxed for his work, and he would be able to live freely with his fellow man in prosperity with a good amount of resources.

Vote upon everything instead of letting others decide for us.
Make every person economically and socially the same.

The ideology of Communism fails because it reduces everyone to the lowest common denominator, everything is over-regulated to the extent that you have to pay for a license and seek government approval to do anything. To get a job, to travel, to write a book, to wipe your arse. Communism doesn't allow anyone to reform it with any ease because of its' ridiculously primitive administrative structure .
The only instance of it ever working is in China and it is only "works" because Communism is marginally less fucked up than having a dozen or so feudal warlords constantly fighting against each other.
