mostly poor, I'm going to assume most people on 4chan are poor (as am I)
is there any rich people on here? and what do you mean by rich? were you always rich?
Rich fag reporting, live in 3.3 mil house, went to private school and good university, now have a good job at a tech company.
>>682257838
you live at your parent's 3.3 mil house?
>>682256949
Not rich, but not black person either. but I have everything I could reasonably desire in terms of food/equipment/hobby shit, I'm alright I guess, not rich or poor
I'm rich in heart anons. That's what matters.
32. I own real estate properties and have investments in the stock market
>>682256949
I was rich, then made redundant, my money is slowly trickling away. Another interview on Friday though..which I will surely fail.
>>682256949
I grew up very poor, but now I make $15 an hour as a cook.
I live well, but I would not say I am rich.
Parents and Relatives are rich, I'm receiving 20% off my aunt's wealth which is around 15m usd. Technically I have no net wealth so I'm poorer than all of you but hey not for long.
>>682256949
Iam poor as fuck atm. But iam currently at university and i work in two jobs to finance myself. I'll work for my own money and i wish that i'll someday own my own house, car etc.
>>682259691
Very jealous anon, would love to know I have a nest egg. Sadly no family members are rich.
>>682259895
Stay at it, I wish I'd tried at school, hard to make above 20k without good qualifications.
Make good money (120K+/year) but don't have any wealth.
Parents were poor as shit and I'm the first person in my family to make anywhere near what I do.
It's nice but I work hard for it.
>>682259685
>>682260030
I make about 35k a year with only a high school diploma, although admittedly I woud make at least twice as much with a 4 year cooking degree.
I consider myself rich in that I've never had to turn down an opportunity due to lack of money. Get into prestigious selective private school? Parents pay the bill. Law School? Parents pay for it. Unpaid internship on the other side of the world? Parents hand me their amex. I've worked hard, but a lot of my success wouldn't have been possible without my parents supporting me financially in whatever I wanted to do. I'm now a lawyer on $190k/year. Not rich, but I'm comfortable enough and I have no student loans to pay.
>>682256949
I have a roof over my head. A car outside. Spare change in my pocket. TV. Internet access. Running water. Heating. Drainage.
I would say in the grand scheme of things, yes, I am rich.
In comparison to my peers over here, I don't feel rich. I suppose in this country, I am below average on the richness scale. But in the whole world....man I got it good.
Be grateful for what you have /b/tards.
>>682260257
It's hard not impossible, I was on 24k till made redundant, now I'm having to go for 17k jobs. Thinking about retraining to be a radiographer.

work at a patent law firm. half translation, half prosecution of patents. studied foreign languages in my undergrad, saved my money for five or so years after college, got a BS in comp sci and passed the patent bar to become a patent agent.
work is pretty boring but I have a comfortable life. I grew up dirt fucking poor, just above poverty level, so I definitely enjoy what I have now.
Poor fag here. Living from government payments whilst studying, which occurs each fortnight. Could not survive without the help of my mother at the moment.
However I have a job interview on Thursday; and if all goes well I'll be able to help her out, as she has for me, along with create a path for my future :)
>>682260868
Nobody who works for a salary is "rich". My means is dependant on me showing up to work each day (and usually night as well). I still work for the man, I just get paid better for it.
>>682260907
I live in NYC. I'm actually English by birth but I went to Columbia for law school.
>>682261115
Thats wassup. I always believe i could do something like that, but the boring aspect of it kills me.. The boring day-in-day out doesnt get to you?
I'm not rich, but I do alright. 130k a year or so. I used to be pretty poor, but I took my education seriously, got a scholarship and eventually got a great job right out of grad school with no debt.

There will always be resturaunts and in my industry the longer you have cooked the more you make.
I will admit I started out at $8 an hour years ago, but now I can get at least $13 anywhere.
I am actually due for a $1/hour raise next year.
>>682261310

sometimes, but the company I work for gives me enough freedom I don't burn out. I can basically take a month long vacation as long as I take a little work with me.
I'm not planning on doing it forever, though. got some ideas for a business a few years down the road.
And like I said, I was poor as fuck right up until I graduated from college so that tends to keep everything in perspective for me.
>>682259481
this, I make more than i spend in a month without having to sacrifice anything i want.
i'm content, no desire really to be rich.
>>682261419
Doing what?
Well off Fag here. Grew up poor - didn't realise how poor until I had money - as both my parents were on welfare. Dropped out of school and my life was not looking good until I decided to go back to school in my early twenties. That was 20 years ago... Today I work across the senior executive team of 2 very well know companies and make about $250K a year. Still not rich but hope to cash out in about 6 or 7 years with a very tidy sum.
>>682261568

Exactly. Homie's confusing "rich" with "wealthy."

>>682256949
I won 3 mill in lotto, which means I live in a house just over 1 mill, but I am also an engineer for a power generation company on over 100k a year just.
New Zealand based though, so by the rest of the worlds standards not rich.

>>682261726

>>682256949
While I don't consider myself rich, I'm probably rich by many people's standards. I don't have to worry about things that cost less than $20, I don't have student loan debt, etc. Not a millionaire, although I was on paper at one point.
I'd consider myself rich if I could buy a house anywhere I wanted, and never have to work again if I so chose.

>>682261834

Born from poor parents, everything gets better after 2004, went to a better private school, start earning well and then almost everything went down in 2011 start working hard, finish school in 2014 and open my own business (jewelry) 2015 was good.March 2016 i get robbed and lost it all.Getting my shit together now,

Got my master certifications as an automotive mechanic about 3 years ago. I have to renew them like every six years, but I made almost 200k last year. The nice thing about it is that I can put in almost 100 hours a week while only really working like 40.

Get your autodidacticism on - learn shit on your own. Most of the best engineers I know didn't learn to program in school, but picked things up themselves. (That said, the more academic things can be useful - error limits, discrete math, data structures - but they're not as useful in day-to-day programming as you might think.)
>>682262016

>>682262437
You mean turned over 200k not net earnings.
>>682261568
Sure, I'll never understand the struggles of someone earning $8/hour. That being said, I still wouldn't be able to buy property where I live. I live in an apartment my family owns and pay nominal rent while I try to save for my own place. Politically speaking my interests are more aligned with a fry cook at McDonald's than with a billionaire.
>>682261820
It is a private school but you don't need to go to an ivy league school to get a good job in law (although it does help). If you really want to be a lawyer then just apply everywhere you can. You might not get into the top firms that pay $160k/year fresh out of law school but that isn't what being a lawyer is all about. You'll make enough money to survive and do good work that benefits people even if you aren't a big shot NYC lawyer.
>>682262280

>>682262541
Lawfag here. Unless you're in the top 10% of a tier 1 law school or have relatives who believe in nepotism, you've got a better shot winning the lottery than getting a six-figure job out of law school. The vast majority of attorneys make less than $60k.
>>682262538
No I mean net earnings. I make 62 an hour basically doing nothing sometimes. The nice thing about it is that in my shop not many people have the certs, so they end up having to use mine so I still get paid for basically doing nothing.
>>682261834

I live with a roommate who owns the house. Rent is 250 everything included. 40 a month phone bill and 22 dollars a month car insurance for a vehicle I paid off. 49 dollar health insurance through tricare prime
Really anyone can live rich. I bartend and am in the guards. I make about 2k a month (that the govt knows about) and I go on vacations often. I'm going to Japan and Thailand for the entire month of September.
I'd recommend being a minimalist. It's not worth buying a bunch of shit when all you do is work to acquire it.
Have more days off and do something you like. Live below your means and you can do whatever you want
>>682262608
I'm not correcting you're spelling, I'm just saying that part of you're problem is that you're jealous of people who are demonstrably smarter than you.
(And yes, I'm fucking with you)
>>682261834
Lol this cant be real.. I refuse to believe someones mind is so warped that they think 800k a year isnt rich. Unless you spend 700k a year, which you dont, then i call bullshit. Shenanigans.
>>682262885
So now you research the NZ lotto for all winnings over 2.5m, cross reference to power generation employees (there can't be that many earning $100k) and you're on your way to doxxing this faggot.
>>682256949

The clients are the worst part of the job. If you want to make money, master salesmanship. High-end professional salesmen make as much money as they want to make. Most attorneys are overworked and underpaid. I own my own firm, and I do very specialized work, so my lifestyle is much better than other people that were classmates of mine. It's a dying profession with fewer opportunities each year. If I were you, I'd go into software development. It also helps people, but you'd deal with way less bullshit.
Grew up fail poor. Had the baisic things we needed to survive ( food, shelter etc ). Luxury food like seafood we had to catch ourselves and same goes for duck and rabbit we had to hunt that too.
Now I'm older and have my own family and I bust my guts at work to make sure they all have everything I didn't. I like in just above a million dollar property ( paying it off ) I have a new car and I earn $50ph now.
This is all in Australia.

It just depends on who you know. The big money is in doing patent prosecution and litigation, and you'd have no chance getting retained for that work as a solo. I couldn't get a job with a patent law firm out of law school, and I have a strong software development and process management background. If you graduate and want to start a boutique copyright/trademark/patent firm you could probably do it and make solid six digits. I wish I would've stayed in the programming and application development world though. Most of my friends in that space are millionaires.
>>682264119
He said an annuity - not investing 10m and living off the earnings. As an example,
>This is Money reported that for a 65-year-old with a spouse two years younger with a lifetime annuity that rises with inflation could expect an income of £41,000 at best from a £1.25million pot,
So for a 65-yo to get an income of 880k would take an annuity investment of £25m - and that's for a life expectancy of c. 20 years. 100m wouldn't get you 4 times the life span due to investment rates - the longer the annuity duration, the lower the return.
Now you see what I mean by financially illiterate?

Danish guy here. Due to our tax/wage system, one does rarely get superrich, but we got a welfare state which is nice i suppose. Basically a lot of social security such as school and healthcare and free university etc.
I grew up in a family who was above middelclass, My dad made around 170k/year in his golden days which was quite a lot in Denmark.
I am currently studying and making around 30k/year. I got money for what i want and need. I usually invest my money in expensive gibson guitars or vintage amps. Looking into some real estate with my dad where I could make a great return of profit in a few years.

No, i'm currently working full-time, the firm isn't reliant on me solely as i work in the legal department, however every executive decision gets made by the senior lawyer. ( my boss )
I regularly go out on weekends with work friends ( receptionists/paralegals ) they are all around my age, and we're all good friends, i try to catch up with my school friends as well, but its hard to relate to them as they're all tradies.
i live alone in an apartment in the CBD, so aside from being an adult and doing adult things, nothing really. i'm also hardly home, i'm probably not in Melbourne for an accumulated ~4months a year, spread across randomly.

Id guess i'm upper middle class. I grew up close too poor, 50k household income in MA (50k goes far is some states , not in MA). Now me and my wife make 175-225k, I guess what's upper middle.
Well I wouldn't say rich... I'm 20, I earn £20,000 salary a year in Payroll.
I'm renting my own apartment which is costing me over half my monthly wage.
Leftover money all goes on food, cigerettes and weed. Most months I have to borrow more off my parents to survive.
I have no idea what I'm doing right now this whole adult life thing is difficult as fuck they never prepared me for this

It depends where you are though. In financial centres like NYC/DC the median is significantly higher than most of the country. Of course, that seems to be where everyone wants to end up. I will agree that law isn't the way to go if you just want to make money. You need to like what you do.
>>682263640

Not as rich as some anons here but parents are rich and I'm set to inherit a pretty profitable company that basically runs itself (outside of a few things) when dad decides he's had enough and retires. Until then I'm in a placeholder position in the company that pays really fucking well for not really having to do anything.
>>682272040
depends which type of law. There are lawyers that literally sit in an office all day going through paper work and writing documents and shit. It's boring stuff most of the time

>>682272933
Yeah, there just isn't as much capital passing through places like Sydney/Melbourne for lawyers to get a slice of. Australian lawyers move to Singapore/HK/London if they want a pay rise because firms there quite simply make more money. I became friends with their kids and helped the kids find focus in their lives outside of hedonistic splurging which the patents appreciated. I guess I'm like a mentor of sorts. now they keep me around and come to me for advice or input on things. probably because at this point they know I have zero care for money or power and am happy to just live but I will also fight for anything I belive in, even if I know I will loose, so in their elite circle I am a refreshing novelty.

Only difference between poor and rich is that the poor lack ambition, conviction, courage, and just simple intelligence.
I'm sorry if you were born into a poor family. If you're not the dumb fuck in your family, either your parents of someone higher up the family tree fucked up.
Hence why regardless of who fucked up, it's your job to pull yourself up now. If you can't, then you're simply weak, and your descendents deserve a life of poverty.
>>682274677
From my situation I'd be stupid not to - it opens a lot of possibilities and if you're good at it then you can get anything - the guy who previously held my position went to work for Virgin Airlines and was earning a bit more than I do and then a colleague has recently left to do something similar with international banking in Manhattan. Mad money in the business, if you can take high stress go government, learn a lot of cool shit in the inner workings and get good income.

Its a bullshit mate. Im rich but really really odd title is that.
We are design firm in Turkey...and well educated family with atheist belief really though decision for Turkey living standarts.
When I was a child I really know what is poorness. I have always one shoe and that shoe always dont fit very well. I never go out with my friends. After middle school. My father grew up a family business. And at high school we are ok with ourselves. After university, Im work with my father and make 2million$ each year and its grows 300k every year.
Hard work and a bit luck but the most research market and what they need is the mean solution. Cuz "right time" is the best idea of business.
Now I live in my own home at age 26 and got 2 cars 1 motorbike and 1 atv. But now system of Republic of Turkey calls me on my army duty.
I have to go 5 months to army.
Ask me whatever you like.
(I hate Erdogan yes, modern people loves Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and hates Erdogan muslim lover. We are Turks not arabs not muslims. Our culture older than muslim and comes from Asia. We are original shamans and I feel like that. We are the modern face of Republic of Turkey and we want peace for everyone. Just shitty uneducated people of Turkey is voter of Erdogans..)
I wouldn't really call myself rich but I'm definitely well off, I got a 15k car from my mom for my 17th birthday and and a 1.2k pc for Christmas and I pretty much get whatever I ask for but it's not like we're filthy rich. We live in a pretty normal house 2 stories but it's pretty big but it's also old, my parents are divorced so I usually get more stuff than I ask for like my dad really likes to make me stuff cause he's an architect/contractor. I have above average grades but not all A's and my mom has told me I can go to whatever college I want regardless of cost as long as I get in but that has to do with the face that she works for duke and after 5 years they match the tuition fees of any college you want to go to and make it cost as much as a public in state school. So yeah I'm pretty well off but I wouldn't say rich.

I agree with this. My wife and I are pretty poor I think, together we bring home maybe $2200 a month and I am paying off some student loans and going back to school in a few months also.
However, we choose to live in a studio apartment and save a shit ton of money that way. It's so fucking cozy and it's my oasis after working all day and dealing with people's bullshit. Honestly, that is where we save most of our money, all my coworkers insist on living in really nice apartment complexes and living literally paycheck to paycheck because they can't stop eating fast food at LEAST once a day and living somewhere they can't afford.
Don't eat shit everyday and don't live somewhere you can't afford, you'll save like $500 a month.
We should kill rich people like this guy. >>682276805

Nigga thats nothing. I have a $3000 pc that i built myself. If you were to buy an identical setup from alienware or something it would probably cost $5k-6k.

how old are you?
>>682277143
yeah but no one needs a $3000 gaming pc. $1k is fine

Hahaha no it doesnt. Trust me. WoW is not an accurate comparison of graphical performance kiddo.
>>682277605
You would need to drop 1k on a graphics card alone and even then it wouldnt max out everything at 60fps, it depends on what games you play. When i say max out, i mean resolution aswell.
My family has never been rich but average. Never lack anything basic, but had to pay for my studies and master degree that I am currently pursuing.
I am earning right now arround 40k/year and I am on my 26, I think I can manage to get some good money before 40s. Maybe i wont rich but avobe average.

The main games I play are squad, smite, paragon, and overwatch. It runs what I need it to run on 60 I'm happy with it. That's what I kinda meant about my life, no it's not all perfect but I'm happy with where it is
