A VN game actually sounds pretty interesting. I'd need a story though, preferably something with a cliffhanger to end my demo.
I know shooters are pretty easy to program but I have an aversion to shooters due to the fact that they are just too easy. Get a gun and shoot things to progress. Sure you can go crazy with how and waht you're shooting but in essence it's the same stuff

I have to make a brand new game the coming 3 weeks, and the type of game and the subject is entirely up to me. The only logical course of action is to ask you guys what I should do. We only have 3 weeks so it will just be a demo of course but if I think it's worth my time I might continue developing the game after the assignment

Well if you like the VN idea you could literally take it anywhere with your writing you could do love, mystery, horror
I would like to play one like a CYOA style where you have multiple options but that could get confusing down your storyline
You would also be writing several story lines
But i like the idea of RPG style start off as a knight and have to kill a dragon or similar and start with easy decisions like turning left or right then get into more like killing someone or saving them
And if your good with art then you could make it look fantastic

I actually write short stories in my free time so I should have some that are suitable for conversion into VN. This idea has potential. I've never tried programming an RPG but it seems like a lot of work on the UI. I'm also not really looking forward to making an open world in 2 weeks

More melancholy, tragedy is usually too big and wears off quickly if you didn't care for the characters. The kind of stuff I'm describing isn't something you're going to accomplish in 5 minutes of game play because its something that would take a lot of time, you've gotta get people invested in the game and the characters so that when it happens people get genuinely depressed from it.
I can't remember the name of it but there was a horror game where you played a cop I think and there were some demon/abomination things attacking you and you had to find out what the hell was going on, when you get to the end you find out there were no demons, it was all in your character's head and he just killed a bunch of random people. Something dark like that it was I'm talking about, and I think all it really boils down to is I want a game to hit my emotions, something that I'll remember, and the best way to accomplish that is by making me depressed.

This is more a slice of life than a ghost story.
Near my place there is an oldband abandoned lightbulbs factory. One time, with 2 friends, we went in and explored it.
It was kind of fun, we found some valuable stuff too, the best thing were the graffiti painted on the wall by some old artists (the factory closed in 2002).
The day after I decided to go in there again and alone, though it was 4pm it was pretty bright inside.
So I walked to the room where the graffiti were and took some pictures.
While coming back I found a completely black room (Probably the kind of rooms that they use to record songs) covered with some kind of cloth.
Went in with the phone torch on because that was the only room completely dark and there were signs of bloodstains on the floor.
I don't know how fast I ran after that.

This took place in our first home. It was a small house that had three rooms, parents slept in one room, and the rest of my brothers and sisters slept in another. Happened in our third house. It was big, second floor, four big rooms. My mother worked at a chicken plant, usually comes back at 12/1 in the morning. She's get home eats then prays. After praying she looks in the kitchen and sees my sister there, then my sister starts walking to the stairs. My mother told her to wait up on her, she didn't listen just continued. Mother walks after her upstairs, my sister goes into our room on the left side upstairs. My mother opens the door and sees her jumping on the bed, which we were sleeping on. She tells her to get off, as she switched on the light she wasn't there at all, my sister was sound asleep. Whatever she followed looked exactly like my older sister.
New painting is underway. It's about five feet by seven feet. Biggest I've gone is a four foot by six foot wood panel that I built myself.
