I take care of several dogs for income. I've met more golden retrievers than I have fingers. You're not necessarily wrong, but they never know when enough is enough. Yeah, if anything, there problem is how MUCH they love people. They can be a little excessive, and if say you're someone who can't handle a bigger dog, and you have a dog the size of a Golden jumping on you, licking you, ETC., it can be a little much. As for the gnawing thing, I've had that happen to me before, but generally they're gentle about it. Would only really hurt if you were someone who was weaker (Read child, bitchy woman, older person). Anyway, neighbor had a pit that would always bark at him (and everything), and I told her she needed to keep her dog under control because the entire neighborhood was afraid of it. One day the fucker jumped the fence and came after my dog while we were having a fire outback, and naturally the little shit runs behind me as soon as the pit leapt the fence, so I pulled out my knife and pointed it at the put's face as he ran his right eye directly into the knife (about a 4-5 inch stiletto). He then laid on the ground trying to bite at me, so I stabbed him a few more times, sawed off his head, threw the body in the woods and left the head on my neighbor's door step with a note. Cops came around, explained to them the situation. They said I was disgusting and sick, but had no legal case against me since it was self defense against a violent animal. Neighbor moved shortly thereafter.
I have never been a violent or aggressive man before or after that incident, but god damn don't fuck with a man's dog.
