What spaceship/starship, in any franchise, is the best and why is it the Defiant?
>>
You have things like the City Destroyer from Independence day - ships that can literally just land over and shit on a whole fucking city, or you have star destroyers that destroy planets and you like some little shit names 'the defiant'? fuck outta here.
>>
Pegasus.
Tahcyon: The Fringe.

I killed more people with it.
By a vast fucking margin.
>>
>>681282625
Andromeda ascendant, commonwealth battle cruiser.
Because its computer has a sexy as fuck avatar.
>>
>>681282625
Because the Enola Gay in 1945 was able to destroy a whole fucking city. A ship as large as the one on Independence Day was accomplished shit for its size and supposed advancement.

Star Wars star destroyers are boring as shit. I want something I could park in a big parking lot but still kick the ass out of a Borg sphere. I might convert a few quarters into a holodeck though; the Defiant was awfully spartan.

Deep Space Nine by far. I liked Enterprise but Voyager not so much. Deep Space Nine was bland for seasons 1-2 but really got into its own by the third. For the first time character development was just as important as plot development, the story arc continued not just for episodes but seasons, and the antagonists were the most well-developed, 3-dimensional characters of any antagonists in the entire Trek universe. Also, the casting rocked. Some of the back and forth with Bashir and O'Brien (and sometimes Garak) was just amazing at times.

Do yourself a favor mate and Netflix bingewatch it not before long.

You mean the ship you need to ask permission from the Klingon empire every time you want to use cloaked? No thanks, it might have firepower, but asking for permission and/or adhering to bullshit regulations to use a borrowed technology is a deal breaker.

I personally would like to command a B'rel, or any Klingon Bird-of-Prey. I want a ship small enough to know its crew personally, but large enough to be able to fend for itself and carry cargo.

>>681299815

you know what ablative hull armour means, right? Means it breaks during combat and falls off. It just means that you'd have to spend half your time in a shipyard replacing the entire outer hull every time you had a skirmish. It also means that the ship is carrying around countless tonnes of material whose job is to get shot off, when they could have used that weight on just more shield generators that could stop the hull from getting shot at all. It was a stupid design that only existed because star trek designs are all pretty bland and they'd used up all the good ones.

Photon pressure is negligible unless you sit close to a star for months or years.

In intersteller space it's basicly non existent in any messarable amount.

Traveling at warp or hyperspace or what have you negates it entirely.

This is who solar sails only work within star systems and take a long ass time to accelerate.

Bullshit. As you fly closer and closer to the speed of light the photon pressure increases by a huge amount. Traveling at hyperspace might negate it (and I haven't seen any aerodynamic ship in a franchise that is using hyperspace), but at warp it does count. You are still moving fast towards your target, you just bend space.

Don't believe me? Believe a PhD student:

Yes there are atoms in space but photons are not atoms bruv, you would experience hundreds of times more resisted from hydrogen atoms than you would photons.

Also photons are always moving at the speed of light and are not static as they are light.

A Warp Gate takes a little under an hour to build with a sufficient economy to support it, with its operation being cheap enough to use it to transport grain offworld.

Also, I can save up cocktonnes of energy and teleport my ACU into any point in space, which is how an ACU works.

It gets teleported onto a planet, builds an economy, and a warp gate from scratch in under an hour or even half an hour to make way for the heavy units like SACUs.

Oh, and there is also a superweapon called the Black Sun which is like a reusable ME3 Crucible.

>pic related, the weakest unit available
>>
>>
>>681306101
Doesn't fucking matter. The rule is still there, he just broke it. Besides, there was only one instance where he would have needed permission from the klingons and didn't ask. The cloaking device is romulan, so the Defiant can't enter Klingon space with that ship cloaked, and guess what ... the Klingon empire is the second largest territory in known space, which is a pretty fucking limiting factor.

>>681306195
You have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>681306028
Also warp speed as its theorized in reality dosnt involve motion at all, what's happening is space is being pulled around the ship but the ship it's self does not move.

This means a bolder the size of a house could be in front of it and it would warp around the ship along with spacetime and not hit the ship.

Sure, that's why you need a deflector, because the ship doesn't move. Why would you need to deflect anything if you aren't moving?

It doesn't matter if you move, or the space around you, you have opposite vectors.
