Personally, I see a reminder of the self-serving nature of humanity. Self serving in such a way that even someone who appears to be completely innocent and incapable of corruption eventually kills everyone just to live her life in peace.
There's dozens of other things to get while reading this. What they are is up to you. That's the purpose of art. Reflect.

Notice the first couple of pages when the girl dies its a catastrophic event for them with the world literally melting.

The prince just wanted to be owned so he could go do whatever he wanted freely, and Zelie did a better job of that than Aurora. Zelie more than likely represents selfishness so she wanted the prince so she could be in the limelight. (Side note, Timothy is probably shame and Timothy would've taken the limelight if she were accepted despite her eye).

Aurora was hjust as deluded as the rest of them, when you get right down to it. She was still trying to live out the fantasy that created her, of living in a house, throwing parties and wooing a prince. The mouse let her think that was still possible by being remotely friendly. But that same friendliness caused it to act according to it's nature in her defense, by marking it's territory during a fight. It was entirely in the right and in it's element, despite having no rationality of it's own. But this act still seemed like a betrayal. And they brought it to her during a weak moment, when everything else she had left to care about was falling apart. Her actual prince from the world she missed had actually betrayed her in this one. But she couldn't just poke his eyes out.
TL;DR, Aurora is human too, and she had a terrible day.
