The morality portrayed in the Quran is roughly the same as you can find in any other religious text.
The problem stems from how many texts are devoted to dehumanizing anyone who isn't part of their own belief. Don't get me wrong, the Bible is full of this shit too, the Old Testament even has a ton of rules on how to treat Jewish slaves better than gentile slaves.
The difference is that some branches of modern Islam actually follows these doctrines. The extremist factions, the terrorists, they can find support and justification for their actions in the Quran because it outright states that anyone who isn't Muslim is worth less, and that anyone who isn't Muslim must either be converted or purged at some point.

I can't possibly see any rational reasoning for that. Islam finds just as much support, if not more, for hating atheism as Christianity does, but Christianity has been tempered by Western secular society so for the most part, it's more accepting of different beliefs, or lack thereof.
I'm an atheist living in a Christian country, like we literally have a state church, and I'm fine with that. The church respects the secular movement and doesn't try to intrude on anyone's life. I don't see why getting rid of that and replacing it with Islam would improve anything.

I've always had the inclination that the bible was full of shit and if it's based on god, then that must mean god is full of shit too or the idea of him is utterly ridiculous. So I read it and then started studying the old testament/Tanakh/Torah and saw the plethora of contradictions, cruelty and acts of inhumanity and violence pathetically justified under the guise of "Do as I say, not do as I do, or you'll burn in hell for eternity."
From there it's just been reading, studying and bringing up questions that will shake the faith and came to realization that we're here on this rock screaming through space, not because we're the descendants of a woman that got pregnant without having sex, but because of evolution of the species. While that has some holes, what it is now is certainly a lot more fucking believable than the prior.
It's my life now. Cutting out the bullshit and bringing things down to the point of humanism and the power of man and his will instead of religion and the power of lies, contradiction and lack of education.

I had the exact same pathway to Nihilism, I started to question my religion, thinking deeply about what i could regard as true and what corresponded with my reality that i was analyzing. I came to conclusion through practical means and understanding i.e. i haven't seen the after life or evidence that there isn't an 'absolute' moral system that can be demonstrably true for every situation.

I'm all for immigration as long as it's done correctly. Prepare the immigrants for the culture they're about to move into, integrate them into society, educate them.
When it's done correctly it doesn't matter religion they're from. Some of the best neighbors I've had were a Muslim family, and they were all very kind and helpful people. The parents also had no problems accepting that two of their kids are now atheist.

I think about it to better understand the reality that i am observing and experiencing, a common concept in the works of Martin Heidegger (my favorite philosopher) is Das Nichts (The Nothing), which is a fancy way of saying death. it surrounds us in every aspect of our lives, it is the great void that will surely but slowly swallow us, we cant bargain with it, it doesn't care what we think of it, its just the entropy of the universe.
