I live in a really small town and Family Video came here in about ~2000 and all the other movie places slowly went out of business. We had a Blockbuster, A place called Mr. Movies and a place called Mr. Munchies that rented videos and sold pizza. They were all huge parts of my childhood and it was sad to see them go. They just couldn't compete with the low prices Family Video was then offering. After the other places went out of business they jacked up the prices. I have a few decent memories of FV as a kid still, like renting my n64 games there, but I mostly hate them for destroying the wonderful and amazing times of getting to pick out a rental from places I grew up with. It was so much easier for kids to play back then. Starting at about age 5, my friends and I were always outside around the same time every day and while we were usually restricted to stay on the block we would roam around outside all day having adventures and playing whatever games we made up.
