I'd say yes. I just finished it again this weekend and loved it. Such a heartwarming story, and the gameplay is fun as heck. One warning though, looots of inventory management. Mother 3 (the sequel) is my favorite of the series, but I'd recommend playing earthbound first. Also, don't bother with Mother 1.
