i'm not religious, but i still went to church
because the girls there were pretty cute
and often enjoyed doing things they weren't supposed to do.

I am a recovering catholic therefore religion is unhealthy for me.

Did you ever rethink/regret your choices to leave the church?

the bible is like a really old fantasy game for adults, but then some took it seriously and started a religion.

Too many gods, man... How do you know who to root for??

Raised nonreligious, didn't see a need for it after seeing how limiting it was to my friends and family, who are primarily religious.

When you die you just lay there. Nobody goes to heaven or hell they just lay there and decompose. so I can see why people needed to invent religion because that shit is just unacceptable.

Also the idea that there is a personality behind this universe and part of his plan is having the entire animal kingdom feed off of each other. Like WTF? Let everybody use the sun for energy.

Studied ancient history, learned how Christianity started, lol'ed. E.g. Originally most Christians (e.g. Manichean Christians) did not believe that Jesus was a man or alive as a person (aka the carnality of Christ). Also food had 'light' or some kind of essence in it that had to be brought to priests and church officials for it to be 'purified and released' by them eating it. Smart

TL;DR Dogma always changes to fit the politics of the time.

Here's my question with that, where does you're mind go? Does it live on like a divine being or like someone's soon to be fart? Or do you never actually die but live in the subconscious of your own mind, environment or space?

I honestly have no religious connections, just curious as to what others think/ believe.

Let's say there is a supernatural being. A god.

How we know that is a supernatural being? How we even know that is "supernatural" if we don't know what even is nature and how it works? Even from a scientific point of view, we don't understand this nor that. So the question would be, what if that supernatural being. that some of the people call god, is in fact, not a supernatural being, but just a part of nature that we don't know.

And this happened before with some other bunch of stuff we thought were possible only in sci-fi scenario. So, if someone wants to be cientific, it wouldn't deny the existence of god, just would say that, god is not a supernatural being, is just a being that is above us, like we are above ants. And like ants, they don't have awareness of their existence or the existence of us as humans.

Like us, we can be in the same spot, thinking that a supernatural being is impossible when maybe is just part of the universe that we don't know and we will never know because that reason.

Thats like asking where the fire goes after it comes in contact with water. Its just gone.

We desperately want to keep going on so we've invented these souls and places like heaven to preserve ourselves. Understandable but its just wishful thinking.

I don't think there's anything/anyone out there, but I also know that if a "god" did exist, it would be so far beyond our comprehension that there's no point attempting to make any sense of it at all. So? Just be a good person for its own sake.

Even this incredible response has its flaws, but just as religious individuals seek comfort in a higher power; we seek in there being nothing but deeply hope for something. Anything. My final question is what are atheist supposed to believe what happened, and what influences you to believe this?

Read this free ebook

Gives the most sound explanation of everything imo, pretty much what this guy said but backed with a ton of info that sounds beyond plausible that I believe this guys story is actually true.

Op here, thanks /b/ros for shedding some light on this topic
>>
>>678421741
I do not believe this, it's just a maybe. 50/50. An atheist wouldn't care, and by that wouldn't believe in anything because is what he does. But you can't decline or accept any possibilty. You can be agnostic but by that you are saying that your believe is a supernatural being. What i am saying is that this kind of things might be totally normal in a superior stance.

Of course is totally alright that we hope for something, because we know we exist, and since that moment, we have the need to fill the fact of that existence, because we can't properly understand that we are like any other being on this planet, with the only difference that we know we exist.

Doesn't change the fact that we know a really good amount about physics, biology and chemistry. Enough to say that we know a lot about nature and how it works.

I agree with you, but wouldn't say it's a lot. And say that just because we still far away from interstellar exploration.

There have been quite a few different faiths all over the world. What makes one more true than the other? If there was a true faith, why wouldn't the deity/s have spread it around everywhere?
Also, the idea of there being something after this life is too enticing, and every god seems too human. I'd imagine that a god type thing would be close to incomprehensible, but who could really make guesses about something that doesn't seem to want us to notice it, if it was real.

I was raised mormon, so I can understand the appeal of religion, but it's just not for me. I kinda wish it was though, in a way. Life by itself is some really scary stuff, and death is terrifying. I would like to think that we all meet up in the end and share a giggle over the things that've happened, but the truth seems to be grim in this case.

>be me growing up in church
> go 2X a week and attend private Christian school
>grow up moralfag with no understanding of reality
>get chance for sex
>get girl preggers
>Mary girl bc I think it's right
>girl fucks up my life bc she's a pice of shit
>in reality everyone is
>try again with a different girl
>be me now adult trying to live up to family standards
>she fucks up my life more than first
>God never cared
>used anger and exp to grow the fuck up
>realized I didn't need God, girls, church or morals to make a life for myself
>did whoever I wanted whenever I wanted and wherever I wanted
>never been happier
>power level now over 9000

I'm agnostic now and just don't care... But life is much less stressful without religion involved

Because there is no reason to believe any of it's true.

Feelings aren't enough for some people, it has to be real, OP.
