As mentioned before, pastors, sheiks, rabbis, gurus, etc are allowed to serve. however, those are special roles, hence why they can opt for professional, conscientious objective roles such as chaplains and chaplain assistants. Everyone else who don't opt for professional services and therefore doesn't maintain their faith in a high capacity as per their job requirements is allowed some time out of non-duty days or specially appropriated schedules on duty days to practice their faith as religious obligations if they are not parallel with military obligations, do in fact come second
