I had a mini Gator in 1988 or 89. My first good deck was a Vision Old Ghosts Hippie Stick. It rocked Indy trucks, Rat Bones wheels, Bones Swiss bearings and of course, the Schmitt Stix rails.
I grew up in Cincinnati skating and move west to Arizona. The scene here was different. Because I lived around a bunch of stoners and Chicanos, our group picked up the style you see in the move "Dogtown". We were the bad partying skaters of West Phoenix.
A lot has changed since then. I cant skate anymore. SOme of us have died or have been killed off. A few are in prison. I wish I could skate man. Just yesterday I was at Arby's and noticed this 1 foot wall that was waxed had been shredded on.

I started skating in 1985, and continued for almost 25 years. I don't need to act like anything. All good things come to an end, I've moved on. I ran into a dude a while back who was just a kid when I was skating. Talked to him for a bit and he told me I was his hero growing up. He'd watch out his window as I skated and that's what eventually got him started. After that, I have no more regrets about not skating anymore
