Get an oil diffuser with a strong, but somewhat similar smelling oil. Eucalyptus has worked the best for me, but I haven't tried more than 5 or 6 different oils. It already has a faint smell of really good weed, so it ends up smelling more like the stronger eucalyptus oil.
Also, I realize the highs are sort of different, but vaping is the best way to prevent the lingering smell in the first place.
Keep the weed itself in a nice coffee bean bag with a 1/4th cup or so of beans still in it. Even when you open it to take out a nug, the room will smell like coffee, not weed. When sealed properly, there's virtually no smell.
I'm schizophrenic and therefore extremely (and irrationally) paranoid about the weed smell, but it helps so much when I get stomach cramps from my meds, and these methods have worked the best for me.
My landlord has never smelled it (as far as I know), my company (parents included) have never smelled it, and my girlfriend (who lives with me) didn't even realize I had been vaping for nearly a month.
