You can get them cheap enough, Uncharted: Golden whatever is good, Killzone is apprently good, Tearaway was my favorite, LBP and it can play PSX and PSP if you really want too.

I bought one about two months ago, played on it maybe 10 times, then sold it on ebay.
The selectiom of games are very limited unless you want all of this gay japanese stuff. If you're looking to play ps1 games on it, good luck; most popular ps1 games aren't even compatable with it (crash bandicoot, final fanstasy, etc.)
Also the few ps1 games that you can install that aren't on the vita store don't even work (you've got to plug vita into ps3, sync it, then download) i tried this with silent hill 1, error code came up every time, looked it up, no solutions
The UI is awful, the physical console always feels like you're going to drop it out of your hands
And finally the only "good" feature on it, remote play, which this is completely irrelevant if you don't have good internet. But remote play is coming to computers so it's basically complelty unnecessary to buy a vita

There's 4G, and century link is extremely unreliable, there are random times thoughout the year where the internet in the whole area will go down, and it's pretty much first come, first serve when it goes down. If you don't call them immediately and it goes down on a friday, you have to wait until monday until it goes back up.
Also there are times when you're paying for 10mb down, and you're only getting 6mb or below

My opinion isn't the right one. I've never even played any of the games mentioned.
But if a the people who dislike something are vastly outnumbered people who do, its safe to say that its good.
I own one, and I think its pretty fucking tits. I really liked being able to play all the old FF games, and the Persona games were pretty good too. The graphics are the best you are going to get on a portable period. Linking to a PS3 or PS4 is gimmicky but kinda cool. The screen is a nice enough resolution that the netflix feature is pretty dope.
If you like JRPGs, its a good console to grab as it features many you wont be able to play otherwise. Some of the exlcusives like PS4 Golden and Freedom Wars are neat, and with a PS+ sub you will get free games everymonth too. If you want a casual gaming system on the go with a more mature target audience than the 3DS, its definitely the way to go.

Im not gonna pretend anyone other than me may liked them, as im not everyone else, but I actually enjoyed Persona 4 golden and Soul Sacrifice. Trials of Cold Steel and Tales Of Hearts R were pretty good fun in a pick up and play for 30 minutes at a time kind of way.

Depends what games you want. I have 3ds XL and Vita, they're both fine. Still work great, battery life on the 3ds is shit tho, especially when using the 3d feature.
I mostly play Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons on them both.
Longer battery life and more mature games, Vita. Nice visuals and larger selection of games and genres, 3ds.
