The thing about the supernatural is that it isn't well...natural. These things cannot be explained by scientific means, because there IS no proof. There's just a bunch of theories for some of these unexplained phenomena, and Christians are just picking the ones they believe to be most likely.
While you can't prove the existence of God, you can't disprove it either. There's a chance that christians are right, just as there is a chance that is wrong.
I know this seems like a cop-out answer, but it's hard to explain to someone who isn't religious themselves.
