I learned later their are some things that smooth it out, and make it a slightly easier pull. Dry fire practice is still mandatory if you're going to have a firearm and care anything about using it responsibly and effectively.
It is sort of cool that you can learn your firearm without expending a shit ton on ammunition to do so.
Live fire drills cover your mistakes with recoil, so they're really not especially effective at making you a better shot. All your better shooting practice is done with no ammo at all. Your practice is merely confirmed when you go to the range and use live ammo.
