Another explanation is that it's about control. As I already said, similar (though less sexualised) versions of this are present in virtually every type of media.
People go to see Saw or Final Destination for the bloody deaths and they get a thrill out of it. Even things like The MCU, movies that are supposedly suitable for kids and everything hinges on the violence of it. If we wanted to watch videos of real people being tortured or raped or having limbs amputated then we could do that, the internet has everything after all but instead we look at cartoons of it.
