Hey /b/ I've really been getting into Prog/Psychedelic Rock recently and I was wondering if anyone had any awesome stuff to check out.
Some of my favorites have been Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, Puscifer, The Open Mind, My Morning Jacket, and even Sticky Fingers.

It's like they're kissing <3
Listen to Alt-J. They're really hard to describe. I guess indie psychedelic art rock.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band
>>676263391
If you're getting into progressive Rock, YES are the (arguable) founders of the genre, have to check them out.
I recommend Heart of the Sunrise
>>676263391
Check this album out, it's fucking amazing. One of my all time favorites suggested to me by a fellow /b/ro.
https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmOwa6OsJAMgwi5O8-nleA-WP_QUJKi3w
Tame Impala is incredible. I've had Lonerism and Currents on an endless loop
>>676263391
You need to drop that shit David Gilmour stuff and go back to Waters-Era
focus
>>676263589
I always see 2 guys arguing. the light dots in between them are like ellipsis to represent the meaningless of argumentation.
>>676265874
Division Bell is actually my favorite album
For classic prog, I suggest Camel, Le Orme, Birth Control... of course Rush.Maybe Salem Mass and Black Widow if you like darker lyrical content.
Not sure if it fits in your description, but you should check out the album "Electric Warrior" by T. Rex.
The Court of Crimson King

None of that's prog or psychedelic. He wasn't asking for pop metal.
>>676263391
If you haven't checked out Yes yet, that's where I'd start, it's the favorite band of about 50 % of all prog fans.

keep em coming if you want
Only ever heard of puscifer, but the album art you posted reminds me a lot of tool.
I love me some tool.
Also Deftones.
And A Perfect Circle.
Dunno if you'd consider them prog, though
>Hey /b/ I've really been getting into Prog/Psychedelic Rock
...an then posts that dreck. Why not one of the best psych albums of all time? I realize you're young OP, here to help.
>>676266513
Nice choice. I'm listening to Starless & Bible Black right now.
>>676267220
>Deftones.
Kill self.
>>676267450
I've never been very good at genre definitions, so, like I said, I don't even know if you'd consider them prog.
What's wrong with deftones?
>>676266881
Well, to each his own. Have you listened to the rest of Floyd? Waters-era or even Barrett's Psychedelic stuff?
Anything by alan parsons project.
My favorite is IRobot, pic related. Pasron worked on dark side of the moon didnt he?
>>676267685
>>676267743
Dont get me wrong, its all great, except for everything but "Louder than Words" in the Endless River, which was kinda meh.
I don't know why, but I just like Division Bell the best, even after listening to all their albums

Alright, that's a very nice gif, but as far as any kind of intelligent answer, you fail.
As is so often the case these days, music-lovers fail me again.
Eat a dick anon, next time use your words.

This one is good.

"For millions of years mankind lived just like the animals
Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination
We learned to talk"
-Steven Hawking. Track 9 "Keep Talking"
The two faces are talking but if you focus on both faces as one whole face they become one speaking to you.

I highly recommend a band called CAMEL. 70s prof rock from the UK. Check out this: http://youtu.be/b1S45_ALcT8
Also a guy named Steven Wilson. Has a heavier edge here and there but amazing song writer.

If you want REALLY psychedelic and trippy rock, you're gonna want to start looking into the stoner rock genre. A lot of my favorite music I trip to comes from this genre.
Okay listen up, I was born for this thread.
Happy the man - Crafty Hands is by far my fav prog album of all time.
Gryphon has some awesome stuff if you are going for a more fairy tail-ish sound,
Hatfield and the North are a great Canturbury band, excellent musicians, and they tend to fuck around a lot which is cool
Yes is great, and if you want to check some more of the more well known prog bands, you can try Genesis, Emerson Lake and Palmer, even Kansas did a good deal of priggish stuff.
Enjoy my dude,
>>676270745

Prog and psych are very different. Here are some essential albums from both genres:
Psych:
>Doors—Strange Days
>The 13th Floor Elevators—s/t
>Hendrix—Axis: Bold as Love
>Floyd—Meddle
>Cream—Disraeli Gears
Prog (I listen to more prog than psych):
>Rush—Hemispheres, Permanent Waves
>KC—In the Court of the Crimson King (already mentioned but so fucking good it should be said twice)
>Comus—First Utterance
>Yes—Fragile, Close to the Edge
>>676263589

Both albums by Liquid Tension Experiment. Do it. Hard.

Nah, post-rock/ambient/instrumental. Don't like getting hung up on genres though, if a band's good I'll listen.
Check out God Is An Astronaut and This Will Destroy You
>>676263391
If you want more of a psychedelic/alt rock feel, definitely check out The Dear Hunter, At the Drive-in, and The Mars Volta.
If you're searching for more of a heavier feel, check out Steven Wilson, Prototype, and Protest The Hero. You won't be disappointed with any of them.
Listen to Cream.
>>676269545
DUde thanks for this adding them to my 830GB of music
Not sure if you've ever heard of 'em, but I've been listening to almost nothing but a band called Shiner for the past month now.
