Love is not some sort of eternal ever lasting feeling of gratitude for another. It is a set amount of time where two people feel connected on a deeper level.
That period of feeling this connection only lasts as long as one person still sees past the other person's flaws. When those flaws start to take over, that's when love turns into the mere feeling of not wanting to be alone.
Men and women hate each other. It's biological. They only enjoy each other for sex and the brief period before having sex. For women it's slightly different, because most have very little self control and don't think things through and are brought up thinking that prince charming is real. They want attention only when they deem it. They're similar to bitchy cats.
So yes, love is real. But that doesn't mean it's some sort of perfect, idealistic emotion which is the peak of being human.

I think you're both wrong. The amount you love someone is the only thing that determines whether someone's flaw is acceptable or not. An example: you could hate someone with a bad habbit of biting their finger nails and that flaw could seem absolutely disgusting to the person who hates them so much so they won't want to be around them for that reason.
Alternatively someone could love someone who's cheated on them and abused them in every way possible emotionally. Because they love that person those flaws seem acceptable to them because it's love that determines everything about perception of others.
