Bought this 5 minutes ago with a "starter set".
About to turn 30 and always regreted never learning to play. Saw Rocksmith on steam sale and went full "impulse" which i basically never do or did all my life.
Well a few hundret bucks aint the world when it all goes the way of the dodo.

That guitar is awful, but you won't regret it. Learning how to play it is great regardless of your age.
And Rocksmith is surprisingly fun although it never liked my guitars or bass for some reason. I could never get the right setting and it misses a lot of chords and notes in game.

Rocksmith 2014 is better built but Rocksmith has a better vanilla tracklist and story mode, which is non existent on RS2014.

>>
>>675800965
Well it got nothing but praise from reviews from GER, ES, GB and skandinavia. Always regarding the price point, of course. What exactly makes it aweful?
From my POV i couldnt do much better. If i enjoy it long term, there is alway the option to spend a few grand.
I got RS2014, as long as the mechanics make sense and you get some sense of accomplishment, it´ll do.
My fingers were never particularly dumb (games, women, pen spinning), so, wish me luck :)

>>

How long you been playing?

Also: what style?
>>
>>675801529
Looks awful to me, but that's just it. Also not too comfortable to sit and play. But whatever, I'm on the side of thinking that you must like how your instrument looks specially if you are starting as it will encourage to play more.

RS2014 is a little lacking in the rewarding department. Although you can fully customize the way you learn a song and the session mode is great, it lacks of s proper career mode as RS had.

Rocksmith is awesome, although It would be too hard for absolute beginners.
Do some online tutorials first and practice a lot before you start Rocksmith.

A show guitar for a beginner is also the worst possible choice. They are ment to be played while standing.
>>
>>675803123
If it´s just the looks, thats fine with me, held my brothers bass with the same layout mostly lots of times and never had too much comfy-issues.

From RS2014 i mostly expect solid instructions and a realistic learning curve.

Any tipps where to start at all? Or things that are easy to miss and screw you in the long run?
>>
>>675803123

It's just as comfortable to play as a strat style guitar, thanks to the contour in the middle of the body.

There was a (german) wiki book about starting to play. It tought the basic "camp fire chords" and some theory on scales and harmony (which you should be aware of). Thats basically what I did.

There was a guy on youtube who had some speed excercises which also helped me a lot. Basically you play to a click and make it through each fret of the guitar up and down the fretboard while alternate picking. Doing this every day for like 3 weeks will make you very fast.
You can try to play actual scales like this when you progressed.

learn to incorporate your pinky into your playing, and then with that you can learn economy of motion. eventually you'll be playing more but actually moving your fingers less....if that makes any sense.

I learned to play in my mid 20s so your never too late. Rock smith is ok but the way they separate the fretboard up into chunks isn't very intuitive imo. I agree with the other guy who said to watch some online tutorials first. Justin Sandercoe on youtube had the absolute best beginners course, seriously learned do much from him (currently doing his blues lead guitar course actually). Give him a look.

1960s Teisco SS-2L w/ custom bigsby
1970s shitty Riviera viola shortscale bass
1980s Hamer bass which is surprisingly really good for being a fender rip
2012 Rickenbacker 620 Fireglo
Korg Microkorg
Yamaha Electone Organ
Marshall Haze 15 stack
Some old russian synth I got for $10 at a yardsale
DDrum jazz 4 piece bop kit

Then a bunch of other shit that I don't really use much

Hi anon, sorry I forgot about the bread.

I switched because I've played Bass for 8 or so years now and just wanted to see if I could pick up guitar to give myself more variety.

That Bass is very much beginner. After a few years of practice and learning get yourself a half decent Bass and go from there. Some Bass techniques can take a long time to learn so take your time a be patient!

What's the most technical song you can play? If you think you can hold a bassline down well then it's your call.

At the end of the day it's your money and if you want to buy a new Bass then do so. I personally had my first Bass from when I was like 10/11 until I was 15 maybe? That's when I got my Crafter which is the furthest right in the picture.

Pretty unloved model here but I don't really know why. Plays well, sounds good right out of the box. It's a little high-maintenance since it's the standard edition and not the $1200+ one, so that might have something to do with people not liking it.

Because they're overpriced, you can get an american standard, for about the same price second hand, that will play, sound and HOLD IT'S VALUE much better.

The only difference between the Hendrix strat and a normal strat tonally is in the bridge pickup (which is angled differently). You can buy a replacement picguard, like pick related, off warmoth for like $50 including shipping to get the same effect.

What I would do would be get a decent fuzz pedal. I own a big muff. Love it and so much fun. And get rid of that ibanez. But that's just my preference. Only because I had a ibanez agb200 neck snap on me... not gonna lie it was totally my fault. I do miss it.

I always wanted to play drums but you have to be rich or you have to have rich parents, you can't play drums in a fucking flat..

Do you have to tilt the guitar up to activate the star power?

To play Drums you have to have cool parents. If I had kids I wouldn't want them making a load of racket on drums.
