Logic is $200 and gives you a ton of good shit. Although Reaper is free and all, but save a couple hundred bucks and get yourself a very powerful DAW. Well as long as you have a Mac that is.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm in psytrance since 16 years. So its actually hard to name certain tracks... One that always stood out to me was 'Ticon - 1987'... But since I usually listen to other kinds of music when I'm at home, it's hard to really name certain tracks. My private psy collection is mostly sound from 2001 - 2005 anyway.
Just find your own style I guess, that's worth more than copying stuff that's already been done ;)
