I hooked these cables up per code in USA with green to ground white and black hot and isolated red because im trying to run single phase 220V on a 3 prong socket in my wall. The thing is that after I turn in the welding machine it runs for 3 secs then shuts off. I have set the internal bracket to ~220-230V on the pin connector. What do you guys think?

Use red and black and make sure they are going to a two pole breaker. If your using the white and its going to the neutral bus in the panel then you will only have 120v.

Did this a couple days ago. As several others have said, red and black are hot, white is neutral, green is ground. Get a two pole breaker, make sure it's actually in the slots that connect it to each phase, and hook up your red and black to it. Green to ground. So at your socket you should be using red and black with green to ground. The way you wired it up originally gave you 120V, not 240V.

Im not trying to wire a circuit im just trying to get some answers to help me rule out the fact that there is something wrong with my machine and that the problem is with the wiring from the machine to the socket. Not from the socket expanding to the breaker. As I mentioned already I have another machine which only has green white and black cables run on that same socket no problem. It is a transformer type machine. This one is an inverter with a red cable also.

If I recall correctly, that's not entirely correct. 240v doesn't use neutral. So, for 240v, he won't need the red wire. He can use 12/2 (12 gauge, 2 conductor) wire and just mark the white wire with electrical tape to indicate that it's hot instead of neutral. Also, green or bare is neutral. These days, it probably won't be green.

I just read that per 2011 code changes most things come with 4 wires. So because my first machine is an old transformer type it only comes with a hot black and white and a ground green. Now with the changes the new machines such as the one im trying to wire have 4 cables and now use red and black as hot green as ground and white as neutral. I was wiring it per older code Im assuming and that is why the white and black were only giving me 120V. Ill hook red and isolate white tomorrow and hope that gives me 240V otherwise I'll take the machine to the seller and try it there. a lot of stuff does come with 4 wire now. my welder is 3 wire on a 30 amp(30 and 50 are same receptacle). I ran only 3 wire so it's Black and White hot with green to ground/neutral. Green will run to the ground bar in the box. If you have 4 wire green and white will both run to the box and if you look and they're on separate bars the bars will have a cable/bar connecting them together.

Your issue is probably frequency. Unless it was built to plug into the wall for single phase, you're not going to get it to work.
Would make sense b/c it gets the provided power for the start up of the system, but then phase syncing leads to loss of power and some kind of failsafe breaker or some shit flipping before the imperfect phase balance can fuck shit up
