Dude was a hep c patient with an upper GI bleed. He was in the bathroom of a house with a fuck ton of dogs and dog shit in the house. He was nakie in his bathroom with a huge pot full of blood. Loaded him on a flat and carried him out while he screamed. Partner got the ambo stuck in mud as he backed out. By the time we mud runned the rig out and got to the ER he was volcano puking blood. Rushed him in, they intubated, emergency surgery to try to unblock his GI. Last I saw they were wheeling him to ICU. Gonna wager he dead.

Hourly wages are 50%-70% of what an RN gets paid to do less work with less stress and less wear and tear on your body.
Though since most medics work 48 hours while most nurses work 36 hours base, your yearly take-home income is much closer than you might guess given the difference in hourly rates. Some will see the medic coming out ahead since you only have to work 2 days instead of 3, some will see the nurse coming out ahead because they have to work 12 fewer hours per week.
I'm any case, nurses have their shit together as a profession, even if they're a bunch of lazy, entitled, under qualified idiots. At least they have a unified labor movement that does its best to advocate for their professional and financial needs.
That's why you have shit like "national nurse appreciation day" or mandatory breaks on-shift, or mandatory nurse/patient staffing ratios that force hospitals to cut physician staffing so they can afford enough nurses to keep the unions from counting even more than they already do.
EMS meanwhile allowed it's national labor movement to be swallowed up by the window-licking retards in the fire service. They don't care about us, or our professional well-being, they only care about lining their Union halls with more mouth-breathing, dues-paying untermenschen. They will never push for better pay for medics, or better reimbursement for prehospital care, because that would mean paying their fresh new medics MORE, and try telling that to Sully with his GED and his fire I and II and his first responder, who's been on THA DEPAAHTMENT for 20 years and sure as hell isn't going to let some uppity medic from the bus get paid more than him.
