Originally, tipping was a socially acceptable bribe in order to ensure good service (things like getting a table quickly, getting your food and drinks quickly, etc.). As time passed more and more people started doing it. Now that almost everyone does it, you're seen as a bad customer if you don't. This is particularly the case nowadays because employers started factoring tips into their employees' pay. OR you could realize that if employers paid those drivers the full amount of what a driver usually takes home, then the food would have to cost two or three times more than it already does. I don't think you understand the math that goes into running a small business, because if tips were eliminated from drivers expected income, then there are going to be less drivers doing more work making less money, otherwise the pizza place is going to go out of business.
