As an Albanian having been back home (Albanian briefly - Shkoder) and Montenegro (Ulcinj), it really boils down to the fact that people are people.
Of course, Albanians, true to their having been born, literally, from the craggy mountains of Albania, are really hot-blooded.
By this I mean that they're quick to anger and very proud - but that's really only the case in the north (my family is from the north and Montenegro).
Honestly? They're a very honorably race.
Mind you I know quite a few that are simply scum, but as whole they have integrity.

But that is taken seriously. Even today people take it seriously.
My great uncle Gatz was imprisoned in Belgrade for seven years because at the age of 13 he shot and killed a Serb who'd accidentally (but showing no remorse afterwards) killled his brother Stefani.
It's a long story but he tracked the guy down and shot him in an open-air cafe.

Also, fuck politics.
If anything, Serbs and Albanians (and really every Balkan-ite) should get along. There's a common culture which permeates us all, and so we should respect and focus on our similarities - not our differences.

All my life I've lived here in the Balkans, and I know exactly what you mean. All my life I've been saying, a person doesn't constitute a nation and if you had one bad experience does not give justification for racism, NOTHING in this world is a justification for racism.
P.S: My grandmother's brother who is very old, lived in Kosovo during the really early years of Yugoslavia. I kid you not he still has friends (Who are the same age with him obviously), and I believe if he went there after all that's happened he'd still be welcomed as if nothing has changed. This is what I love about the other side of Balkans, the brotherhood that some people form that defies the most complex disputes!
