Hey /b/, do you agree with this list?
id move archaeology and poly sci up 1, and make a tier lower than shit to put music and womens studies in
>>674918624
No, history's a great subject with good pay.
>>674918898
>shut up archaeology fag
>>674918624
I say major in whatever the fuck you want and enjoy the fuck out of it
>>674918949
>mah nigger
>>674918898
oh id also move stats and geology lower
>>674918624
fagology should be God Tier
There's absolutely no reason that psychology isn't the flagship of shit tier
Also move music up, at least there's a scrap of talent and ambition there
>>674919054
even Womens Studies?
>>674918624
>tfw studying Engineering
>>674918624
I'd probably move comp science up to top tier
and geology down
Why isn't womens studies its own tier? "
>below shit tier
computer science student here, girlfirend is psychology. as far as those two go, couldn't agree more
>>674918624
>mfw medicine is pharmacology
Okay fags, I'd like to ask you a question. Planning on doing Software Engineering, specialising with AI. Is this a good idea?
>>674919175
especially womens studies
>>674919308
lol comp sci is not god tier you nubbet... everybody can enter comp sci..
>>674918624
>English, history, and music on the same level as women's studies
Don't insult them like this
>>674919464
he's right
>>674919333
trips has spoken
>>674919464
I said top tier
>everybody can enter comp sci..
wrong
>>674919165
psychology should be moved down but music might take talent but its a shit major.
>>674918949
plus a pretty good transfer to law school tbqhfam.
>>674919391
>the way of the future
>the way of the future
>the way of the future
>>674919464
Any one can enter few can succeed.
>>674919352
Wow, how can someone be so retarded.
Medicine = help patients.
pharmacology = research.
>>674918624
>god tier majors
What you enjoy
>shit tier majors
What you think will make you the most money/what your parents want you to do/what you think people will respect you for
This is coming from someone majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in applied mathematics
>>674919554
sorry haha but still, I am a cs student myself, and I don't think it is top tier.. because comp sci is still in its infancy... and lots of dumb kids wanted to enter comp sci because of the "I want to be like Bill Gates" memes and "Apps/Games" memes
>>674918624
I'd move History up. It's actually really interesting AND helps with all skills.
Computer Engineer here
what am I?
why the fuck is Geo so fucking high on the list?
>>674919840
Depends on how good you are at it
>>674918624
I'm low tier with psychology :(
>>674919710
Don't try to deny it, engineers are going to have a happier life than psychologists because the world just doesn't fucking need psychologists
>>674919840
God Tier.. now, please improve our smartphone haha
>>674919840
A retarded Engineer.
Thats pretty accurate, except personally i think Mid & Low tier should be combined
why is archaeology even up there? take that down and put anthropology in low tier
>>674919958
I firmly believe that if you're doing something you enjoy for a living it doesn't matter how "useful" you are to society. Life is meaningless so find something you like to do and just ride it out.
Pretty easy, the more respected and sought after your subject is the higher it ranks. Everything on here is pretty accurate, expect women's studies, there should be a lower "shit eating autistic kid with downsyndrome" tier
Aaaaaahahahahahahaha medicine. Lol fuck I h kill yourself the pharma industry is so full of shit and completely opposite of what they should be.
Let me tell you this. If you consider going into medicine just fucking kill yourself.
We all know phylosophy is in the god tier
>>674920441
ew no but neurologist? yes
>>674918624
I don't even have a degree.
Where do I fit in?
lol
>>674919958
This.
We're in greater need of mediocre plumbers than excellent psychologists.
German physics > physics
>>674920626
Its okay man.. degrees worth jack shit nowadays.. you just have to be creative.. try invent something new product or service.. and sell it..
>>674920626
Higher than women's studies I'll tell you that
>>674920774
Darmstadt = Shit tier Uni
>>674920650
Yeah but the first one had shit quality.
Also updated list.
>>674920984
HAHAHAH nice
>>674920879
I don't complain.
I got a steady job, an apartment, a car, and a little something for a rainy day.
Life is good.
Cheers, m8

nice dub
>ITT
>current college students make assumptions about other's majors thinking success is a matter of what degree you pursue rather than hard work and networking
>>674921358
sounds like a true libertarian faggot.
>>674918624
No, it's retarded in too many ways for me to even bother pointing out.
>>674920984

You cheeky nubbet you :)
>>674921444
why did your mommy choose what degree you should go?
>>674918624
I got crminology, so kind of a mix between sociology and statics. Where does that place me?

GOD TIER: What people NEED
MID TIER: What you want
SHIT TIER: What people don't need, e.g "womens studies"
>>674921648
No, but if your parent chooses a good degree, you should still take it.
>>674918624
tfw i'm learning information technology and i'm shit at it
>>674918624
Where does air traffic control stand?
>>674921735
it's great, but why would you go get a job that people needs but you are not happy with. you will just end up a depressed suicidal robot faggot
>>674921973
Lower than womens studies.
>>674921848
read this >>674922007

>what people NEED
Fuck that, live life for yourself. Get that socialist pussy shit out of my face

>>674921358
>>674921735
let's change this
GOD TIER: What you love to do that contributes to humanity
TOP TIER: What you love to do
MID TIER: What you are good at
LOW TIER: you need money
SHIT TIER: women studies
>>674922007
>>674922163
not that anon, but you have to understand this, maybe the ones who studies what people NEED wanted to invent a new product that people will NEED... like Elon Musk
>>674922051
How so?
>>674921569
Life Sciences?
>>674922498
+1 anon
>>674922498
that's all fine and good, but what's the ratio of What you love to do to contributing to humanity for god tier?
Is something You love to do, that only slightly contributes to humanity, better than something that is hugely important to humanity, but you don't really like.
>>674921645
>we are discussing which course contributes the most to humanity
You mean what contributes most to corporate, you shill.
>>674922632
Sure that's fine if what you WANT to do is provide for other people and create things people may need
But I don't think the merit of your career choice should be based on how altruistic it is
>>674918624
What about Bricklaying?
Here's a better list guize
>>674923182
Don't think there's a bachelors degree for brick laying m8

What do you /b/yards plan on doing with education? Every teacher you ever loved or respected had to go to school - teachers are necessary
>>674923528
Well then. Learn something new everyday
>>674923283
again, why are history and politics so low down?
>>674923283
How's mechanical engineering both god and great tier?
>>674919054
Major in what you enjoy and you won't have to work a single day of your life. Because that field is most likely not hiring.
>>674918624
how on earth is law top tier? i would switch law with CS. seriously law is memorization, not much actual thinking compared to CS. also wth with geology and pharmacy being top tier too. i dont get what autistic metric you used to make that list, but 50% of it is just wrong. history is cool as hell, whats it doing in the shit tier? how is life sciences on mid tier? it shuld be lower. kinesiology should be with psychology.
>>674919840
literally the worst engineering. only people that dont have the balls for CS go for it. in the same way people without the brains for civil engineering go for architecture
Bullshit.
>>674925283
political science... why is that not with history
>>674919391
Yeah, as we move towards smart networks and IoT this will become more and more in demand.
>>674925800
Because they aren't the same thing?
>>674918624
Yeah this is pretty spot on when it comes to compensation/productive contribution to society.
>>674925283
>history major detected
>>674925994
IoT people are insane. They played Watchdogs and thought, "Hackers being able to affect every aspect of people's lives? Fuck yes, let's make this happen!"
>>674919554
Comp Sci here, mid-tier fits tbh. The degree really only means you're not a total fuckup and are semi-competent in whatever language your school starts you in. It's easy to coast through comp sci at most universities.
Unless you're one of the few of us graduating at the top of our classes you'll need to compete for low-mid end jobs with all the shitty international students (read: indians) who legit can't program or do math by fourth year.
>>674918624
> computer science
Thats the womens studies of STEM.
Been working in software for 10 years, never met a competent engineer with a CS degree
>>674926064
as in in the same tier, similar applications unless we're talking very specific careers
>>674924857
>law doesn't require that much critical thinking
>>674918624
Why is music a shit tier tho?
>>674926215
Nope, I just know people who have made great careers out of History and Archaeology.
>>674926283
Lol I just designed a smart sensor system for a vineyard in the Willamette Valley. Sensors that measure soil aration, water content, outdoor atmohspheric and weather conditions, plant growth progression, etc. All networked and providing real-time and trending data to the owner's tablet so that he can maximize the efficiency of his fertilizer/water use and maximize yields. Going to be installing a similar system for the other part of the operation that makes and ages the wine. It's the future man.
Yeah, every networked drive is possibly at risk. That's just something that comes with the internet dude. If the risk were as bad as you say you wouldn't have you comp plugged into the network and be spewing your shitty uninformed opinion all over /b now would you?
>>674918624
How do you guys feel about affiliated medical professions? Specifically PA/NP/OT/PT
>>674924857
>Law is memorization, not much actual thinking
B8 or ignorance?
>>674919352
pharmacologists do literally nothing, and their education isn't half as hard as they pretend it is
Well, in my country people begin to learn statistics and law when they are shit at anything, but parents force them to go to uni, so both are shit-tier here.
>>674918624
Medicine should be bumped down to mid tier.
Glorified drug pushers.
>>674919054
till you're done with 4 yrs. Then prepare to struggle for the next 44.
>>674923283
Where does the rest of the military fit in

Right?
>>674924477
kek
>>674919518
No he's not. Trust me
>>674918624
every time i see this i always quesiton why computer science is mid tier?
>>674924477
Stop that, based anon! The truth is too painful!
>>674923283
Nuclear engineer is "good?" Pfuh.
>>674918624
Weamon studys iz supposed to be god teir
>>674926741
because computer science doesnt graduate software engineers
>>674919019
>>674921564
>>674923283
>>674926215
History is a decent major. It doesn't compare to the financial security of medicine, however an archaeologist makes more than enough to easily support themselves and live comfortably. Even starting out without a masters degree, an archaeologist makes enough to do just fine. If you're at the top of your field, there are archaeologists with book publications and research who have the funding to make major archaeological expeditions with whole international multi-institutional teams of professionals across a broad range of fields. The idea that history is somehow comparable to womens studies is ridiculous.
>>674928079
I've sat through too many lectures from pretentious Pharm D's to have any respect for them. What field are you in?
>>674928457
Semantics? A friend of mine just graduated with a computer science BS and his entry-level job title is software engineer.
>>674918624
where is architecture
>>674928457
Yeah it does lol. Cs and Software Engineering is basically the same thing at my university
>>674927507
compared to cs it is true. law is truly overrated. have you noticed that most if not all retards that have a degree its law? and im talking literally retarded people. google "down syndrome lawyer"
I'm doing a geology based degree mostly because I like it and also because there are at least some jobs available
I don't really mind where it's ranked, I can make enough to live on and I enjoy it and that's the part I give a shit about
Yeah, my tier is definitely Top Tier
>>674923283
And Great Tier here.
It's also nice that less than 100 people are doing the same thing that I'm doing at my university
>>674929230
Finally! Another geology major on here!
>>674928589
Computer Science is more of a math-focused program. Think algorithm design, protocol design, compilers, etc.
Software Engineering is about the processes of designing and building a product.
Obviously there's a lot of overlap, but quite often comp sci majors don't learn any of these processes unless they take soft-eng courses as electives.
>>674929318
ayyyyy you doing geology or applied geology of some sort? I'm doing geohazards
>>674918624
I'm majoring in psychology because I'm going to go to law school and based on the classes and scores on the lsat, psychology majors do the best. Pre law is frowned upon and isn't anything special and most law schools like diversity so I guess depending on what you want to do, psychology can be beneficial.
>>674926433
you high? cs is not a programming course that makes you semi competent on a specific language. if your school is that you are wasting your time tbh.
>>674929563
Applied Geology. I'm looking into Environmental Geological Sciences. Hydrogeology is my main focus, but geohazards have always interested me as well.
>>674928964
then your school has a shit cs degree
>>674918624
No
The lack of history and political science in politicians is why the US invaded Iraq and the graveyard of empires.
Economics forms the basis of society.
>>674928185
because people who dont know what CS is and think its a glorified programming course made that list
>>674929886
Any decent cs program will have you apply the theory.
I mentioned that because for half the students in any school, the programming that they'll pick up during their cs degree will be their only marketable skill.
