The whole point of Linux is custom tailoring it to a given system.
This can make it exceedingly efficient, both in ressource usage and space requirements, but also makes it a little hard to get running.
Beyond that it's not much different from Windows.
If you install a Linux distro and select all the options it's nearly the same thing.
