I've had at least 30 different pairs of cans of all types over the years, and for my tastes, open back is the best way to go. They have the most natural, organic sound by far and the senns accel at that. The only reason you should stick with closed is if you're a basshead and would rather stay in the mud with your thump imo. If you have an appreciation for clarity, detail, soundstage, and rounded-off frequencies, the hd650 is definitely the way to go for its price. The hd800 are too expensive for what they are imo, and probably the next truly noticible step up in sound quality would be the orpheus, and ain't noone here have $55k to drop on that insanity.
