weed has less physical consequences from abuse/binging, I quit smoking weed after around a year of heavy use and coming off it wasn't that bad besides irritability and lack of appetite for a few days. after drinking heavy for a few months I managed to gain 15 pounds, never get good rest, and feel like absolute death, and when I quit after around 6 months of daily use, I had withdraws that lasted weeks.

I'm not trying to defend either but I am currently in a 2 year experiment with myself where I am living 1 year with only alcohol and living 1 year with only weed so I thought I'd share my findings thus far.
I used to smoke and drink just about every day since I was 18 (I'm 26 now)
I decided to give up weed for 1 year. In this year I found myself to be quite miserable. I gained a ton of weight, I slept poorly, waking up in the morning was tough, I was mood swingy, I was too lazy to fuck for long periods of time (I had less of a sex drive) I ate bad (drunk food decisions) I never had any extra money, I stopped producing new art, I drove under the influence on many occasions, also spent a ton of money on uber when I had enough sense not to drive buzzed, I was bloated and gross.
Now I've decided to reverse that and Smoke only weed for 1 year with no alcohol. So far I am 3 1/2 months in on the green weed only diet. I am happier over all, I've lost 10 pounds, I have money in a savings account, I wake up early with ease, I am more pleasant to be around, I fuck more and for longer periods of time, I am calmer, I am still mood swingy but I am less aggressive, I don't blow up with rage as often as I did before, I am writing new music with my band after not writing anything new in a year,I'm producing much more art in place of the time I used to spend after work drinking alcohol and watching netflix, my girlfriend seems to be happier and I am nicer to her. I stay home more often, over all less of an asshole. I'm still not perfect but I have improved my life with weed.
It doesn't take a lot to get me stoned so I don't spend a bunch of money on pot and I live in California where its practically legal if you go through the medicinal route which is just a legal loophole and a complete joke anyways.
I was drunk when i crashed my car, I was drunk when i attacked and hospitalized someone, I was drunk when I went to jail. I wouldn't have done those things stoned.
