Where do I start? Retarded uestion, I know, but like seriously where the fuck do I start? Do I read shit online, do I ask friends about how to grow? Do I start growing in like a small planting pot indoors? I have never planted anything in my life and I want to start. read online, there are lots of forums dedicated to it. where you start will depend on how much you want to grow and how much you want to invest.
i started with a 1000 watt hps ballast i got off craigslist for $100 with a hood and a lamp. im still using it, but i have upgraded the hood and i've went through many lamps. i still grow with soil, and i usually use botanicare nutrients. eventually i bought a dehumidifier to help keep the room right. i also had to get a fan to keep the temp down. still use basically the same setup. you also have to factor in how much you are willing to spend on electricity.
i chose it based on how much i wanted to grow and how much i wanted to spend. i have a doctor recommendation and only grow for myself, with my setup i dont have to constantly grow year round but i could if i needed more.

Sannie`s strains are pretty good really tasty , but mainly sativa`s . i got a Somango haze (shivanni x misty) , it has the great fruity smell and taste of the shivanni x misty f1 cross , the adding of somango brought back the shivanni pheno with a misty branch and bud development. Frosty as hell as well because of that misty mother.
I dont think i will be even able to smoke it , the shivanni is way to much sativa for me.
Thne again the misty x sm haze f1 was insanely heavy on cbd , puts you out like narcoses.

But so is the investment of time. I got a half pound off of 15 plants, culled to 7 females. In the south of the US the plant does fine outside. Flowers starting in mid August and is pickable sometime after labor day. Worst part about that whole deal is getting the inevitable spider webs off of the bids prior to hanging.

I think about puting tarpaulin on skeleton made from pvc pipes.
I read that tarpaulin isn't waterproof so it may cause mold so I'm lookin for a substitute.
I can't use wood because I don't have tools to build it from wood.

i imagine it would depend on where you are selling it. there are always trade offs. do you want really potent or do you want fast flowering times. does the type of high (indica vs sativa) matter to your buyer? Some strains produce very well but are hard to grow as they are susceptible to mold/mildew. I used to grow green crack and it produced lots of good weed but i was constantly battling either mites if the humidity was low or mildew if it was high. In a different area it would probably be great but i gave up on it.
i guess what i am saying is you will just have to lookup reviews on the strains available to you and decide which looks good and give them a try. no one can give you a universal answer.

Get peat moss soil , get a bag of compost and a bag of potting soil, mix them in to a nice lose mixture.
some soils are fertilized with non organic fertilizers!! , it will say that on the bag 8 weeks fertilized 12 weeks goes up to 6 months.
You need to flush (only give water for at least 2 weeks prior to harvest , if there is fertilizer in the soil that wont do the trick.

Use rigid conduit. EMT, can be cut with a pipe cutter and that are elbows and all sorts of fittings available. Like pvc but can be taken apart and is made from metal.

You should be able to find some 6mil Poly vapor barrier. Decently thick/durable plastic that's used to cover insulation before drywall sheeting is applied. Most hardware stores carry it in rolls of 100+feet, 6-8ft tall

I moved up to a cabinet with some 6x 36w tube lights screwed in there , fueled my daily 5 times a day smoke outs, i did added another grow area for mothers and cloning.

Deer might give them a taste and you don't need autoflowering strains as long as you plant in the spring. It is an annual outside the tropics and will flower after the equinox by itself. Autoflowering would only be needed if you need to,harvest before nature does its thing. Weed is a very easy plant to grow outside in USDA zones 6-9.

You need to give it the sun with lights, fresh air, clean water and soil. Try and get your setup as close to standing outside in a field in June at noon as possible. Growing inside is tradeoffs. I would be worried most about not enough light giving leggy plants and too high humidity giving mold or other rots.

You should learn to grow orchids too. Will teach you a lot about indoor growing of plants. Orchids are way pickier than cannabis ever will be. Also they look very pretty. I love having flowers blooming in my house year round. Also may give you a bit of cover of people start getting suspicious.

I agree. Lost mine to surveyors once. I suggest setting up seeing thread trip wires to alert if someone has come in. If you see the thread broke make a wide circle back from another direction and scope it out from a distance. It is not unheard it for the cops to plant game cameras and get photos to try and use later.
I always parked my car a good distance away and approached from a non obvious direction. Try to grow where there are natural barriers on 3 sides. I find old sewer line cuts to optimal balance between openess and safety. Try and find one that crosses a creek so you have water nearby.

SWIM also has some extra fluorescent lights lying around. Should they be put in good use? I don't think SWIM should do this, as they produce a possibly unsuitable light. SWIM's plant is currently at late stage.

I don't know a whole lot about growing in conecticut, but the humidity should be a lot easier to work with than say, florida (if outside) and the temps should also be more manageable.

You will be fine in Connecticut. Weed is way easier to grow than most vegetables. Weed has lower nutrient requirements, is more tolerant of temp extremes, and has far fewer pests in general than most Brassicas, like broccoli or cabbage for instance.

HEAT stress causes the fringes of the leaves to turn upwards, which comes from having the plant too close to the light and not controlling the temperature where the plant is properly. otherwise, too intense of a light will bleach out the chlorophyll causing the plant to be white in appearance.

Ok, so yes. the 600w HPS bulbs you are using should be fine... assuming you are using them in a 4x4ft area, and maybe say 7ish foot of height in a tent or grow closet. for a 5x5ft space you will want to use a 1000w bulb.
remember to use a correlated ballast for your bulbs.
but yes, please refer to the inverse square law about light and intensity. i used a 400w bulb in a 3x3x6 space and got plants like these:

you can really see the heat stress in this picture. this was after i had relocated the entire op, and of course here is where i jacked up the lights so i could get a proper photo.
had to use an A/C unit hooked up to the top of the tent blowing in fresh air.... it would drown itself regularly, and the 'friend' i had went out of town and wouldn't let me access the plants... thus leading to a shut down of the unit, and subsequent problems you see here.
