In all honesty, I'm an Xbox fan. I loved my 360 and consider it one of the best consoles. After SNES, PS1 and PS2. But they royally fucked up this console generation. I own both and the PS4 is remarkably better than the one. The one does have some good exclusives but it doesn't mean it's still not a pile of shit. I rarely turn that fucker on. So disappointed in it.
I went with the Xbox one and I don't regret it but there are perks to both. I've played some ps4 and don't really like the way it's set up. But the Xbox one got a new update that changed the layout a few months ago and it sucks ass. So fuck both and get a wii u

Sony would have won out the gate even if they released them on the same day. When they launched I didn't buy a PS4 because I waited for the one. Bought it and thought the interface was easily the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. It's confusing to route through the menus. Within two months I had the HD filled up. The small hd's go for both consoles though. I filled up both quickly. I have been a live member since the very start and xbox live on the one was awful. Nobody had a fucking mic. I'm not being an asshole about it just laying down my opinion on why Xbox didn't win this generation. I hope they learn from their mistakes for the next one.

PS4 is good for JRPG's but i fucking hate that genre, so no sale.
XBL community has a higher use of Mics, making team games like Battlefield a better experience.
Voice functions are good on Xbox, don't need to fumble for a controller when i need to pause Netflix etc.
Never traded a game in my entire life, so backwards compatability gives me a reason to dust off 360 games that i never finished/want to play again.
PS4 hardware is better, but so was the PS3 over the 360 and it never showed until the end of the gen with games like The Last Of Us.
Multiplat games run identically between the two consoles, 1080p doesn't mean shit to me when i play Xbox and never think "fuck man, i'm not enjoyin this because it's not 1080p.
PS4 exclusives are remasters, mediocre or a derivative of other games of the genre; i.e Bloodborne is just Dark Souls with a different paint job.
Most Xbox exclusives are sequels to old franchises, but give me a good shooter over a frustrating slog like Bloodborne anyday. I don't want to fight a boss 7 times until i work out how to beat it.
GWG usually gives away quality games every month. Some indy games i would never have heard of/wanted to play that i'v got for free have turned out to be pretty good.
Smartglass App works well on my phone. Get alerts when friends have come online etc.
