Congratulations on joining the hasguns club. Taurus is a brand with very few (count on one hand) quality guns in its roster. This is not one of them.
I'm not going to shit on you or it, but you're going to want to run a couple hundred rounds thru that, research the most common reasons for F2F's (failure to fire), buy better aftermarket parts like magazines or simply springs/trigger mechanisms.
I've only fired one Taurus and it was a replica of a Ruger LCP (which I own). It was super rough around the edges and very stubborn with the mechanics compared to the LCP (which is why I ultimately bought the LCP).
TL;DR Taurus is a low quality brand, upgrade soon.

The CT laser really helps get on target quickly. I'm almost as accurate open sight, though, but slower.
Love the gun for daily carry. Took a course at the S&W factory on defensive use of a snub nose revolver. Cool class. We were shooting through pillow cases to simulate pocket firing (something I never considered when I bought it). But with a little practice, it shoots accurately without ever leaving your pocket. Kinda useful to know. Try that with an automatic.

The competitions in my area are pretty low key. Maybe 20 people on a Saturday afternoon. I wasn't really into the competing aspect as much as I welcomed the insight of advanced shooters. I enjoy people and conversation but once I felt comfortable with what I had learned, I just went to the range and practiced by myself. Haven't shot a competition in a couple of years.

i got a taurus pt 24/7 g2 9mm. it never happens to me but everyone else uses my gun gets the bullet shell stuck in the chamber. or sometimes the bullet doesnt go into the chamber after being shot. basically it jams alot.

I honestly would have recommended a Glock 17, SigSauer p226, Springfield XDm or an M&P 9mm . You need a reliable gun. Taurus are VERY unreliable, meaning it will get jammed when you most need it or might discharge without you pulling the trigger. Should have just saved up a bit.
