Two things you might wanna be careful about:
1. If you can't find it in the pictures app, just look into the "recently deleted" folder. You'll figure it out quickly(about how to get there).

The school will brick it's pants, lawsuits against schools can wreck the career of whoever is in charge. They will move in on this kid all heavy, threaten him with expulsion (to try and end a connection between the lawsuit and themselves) and force him to delete it. They will give you the chance to check if image is gone.
Is that enough? My friend had similar issue (got caught kissing a fat chick and pictures were taken without him knowing). His dad was a lawyer and told him to go to head and threaten to implicate school in allowing the bullying to continue. School literally dragged students out of lessons and inspected picture folders to ensure it was gone, and numerous parents tried to get head suspended for invasion of kids privacy lol This was over 10 years ago, pre-massive social media, I had image on my razr, I kept it for couple years, sadly was lost.
