Having faith in something greater than you is important. You don't have to believe in the traditional idea of GOD. It's just important to have an idea of perfection that you hold above humanity so that you can meet your fellow man on the same level.
Atheist folk I've met in my life are WAY more judgmental than the folk that believe in something. There are crazy folk everywhere, and they will find their ways to be crazy within any context they can find. Lately, the easiest (laziest) frame of mind to fall into is the idea that everything is a product of random happenstance. Faith is frowned upon.

The original word in genesis where it's talking about the "days" God invented the world are bad translations of a Hebrew word which could be translated to time. So at one time God created late then on a second time etc. God created evolution, we're living it.
